2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Negra Modelo pours a transparent burnt amber color with a minimal head. The aroma is mostly of caramel and malts, with a touch of hops, but just a touch. The taste is very clean, with a surprisingly rich caramel profile. The roastiness of the malts is evident, and the hops finish the taste quite nicely. Not much is left on the finish, and the aftertatse is just a slight earthy grainiess. The mouthfeel is typical lager, not thin but not robust. The carbonation is a bit harsh on the palate as well.

3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
No head, slight lacing on the glass. Malty nose, leading to a toffee-vanilla sweet finish. A Vienna style beer from Mexico. Putting a lime in this beer would make no sense as there is no skunk to cover up. Come on people, this is ONLY a Mexican beer because it is made in Mexico. in acuallity it is one of the few remaining Vienna style beers commercialy available.
Very drinkable, sweet beer.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a dark mahogany, with lots of carbonation and head that dissipates quickly. Nice fruit nose, slightly sweet. Very smooth, and very light flavors, not a lot of body to this beer. Fruity aftertaste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Suprising for a Mexican beer. I like it. Red brown color, no head at all, very few bubbles. Different flavor from anything else I've had before and can't place it. This is the first mexican beer I have had that doesn't require fruit.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: FEB 8, 2009 Dark amber appearance with an average sized head. Subtle, caramel malt aroma failed to leave any impression. Watered down, artificially sweet, cola-like taste. Light bodied with a lot of carbonation. Short lived finish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Has a darkish brown color with some carbonation and a malted smell. Taste is of some slightly roasted malted and finishes with a slight bitterness. Overall it is one of the better Mexican beers, but that isn't saying much...

ugh. never again. glad i could pawn this swill off on a bud. Not what I expected in a dark mexican beer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
A bit darker than your other mexican beers. Try this next time you order a burrito, it's got better hop and malt flavor than the typical mexican beer.

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pretty ordinary stuff, but I really liked the bottle. It struck me as being a well-made beer for the masses.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
The common thread throughout most of these tasting is the fact that although nothing special, this is probably the best mass-produced Mexican beers. I will concur. Heck I'll even (gasp!) put a lime in this one at a Mexican place once in a while. It is not an attractive beer, and the mouthfeel is poor, but it helps with the Habenero pepper fire...
