This dark vienna-munich type beer has had extraordinary acceptance in international markets. Exports to the U.S. began in the early 80´s, and have since attained great success in Europe, Australia, Central and South America.

Had this at a Mexican restaurant. Pours brown with a small head. Aroma is faintly malty. Taste is moderatley sweet with notes of roasted malt. Not much flavor to speak of. Mouthfeel was thin. Not bad, but has nothing to offer either.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2006 Interesting beer, hard to find this type in Mexico, although it’s creamy, it is a little "light" when compare it against other Vienna style beers.

Clear amber color beer which supports a nice white head. Sweet malt aroma with little bitterness as it should. Acceptable Vienna, but nothing great. Not a bad choice for a Mexican beer, but there are some that surpass this old standby.

This is perhaps my favorite Mexican import. One of the easiest to drink beers out there, without being too weak. I wish it was easier to find on tap, however. I have yet to drink a draft of this wonderful import.

The colour is dark amber, the liquid is clear. The quite large white foam dissolves quite quickly into a thin lid. The smell is gentle and fruity with a hint of malt and some fresh hops. There is a small amount of diacetyl. The carbonation is mild and pleasant. The taste is quite mild, with a dry and somewhat burned flavour. There is a hint of diacetyl and a small but noticeable bitterness. The aftertaste is a little bitterer, with a small touch of sweet liquorice. This is very mild beer, almost watery, but with a nice "dark" touch.

Cream of the crop as far as any ale/lager brewed in Mexico is concerned. Yet, falls short overall when compared to ales brewed from other regions. Not the typical "Corona-like" taste. This dark ale actually has . . .subtle notes of chocolate-like flavor and a dry/smooth aftertaste. Don’t mistake Modelo Especial for this ale, as it is far superior to its cousin.

12oz bottle-pours a deep amber hue with minimal tan head. faint malty aroma and medium carbonation. flavors are toasty, somewhat buttery but not very good. I will pass.

Enjoyed it much more out of bottle rather than draft. Some caramel, hops, rather good with Mexican food.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2005 In a mexican restaurant, this is my choice. I bought some on sale. Not as good, even if it was less expensive.
