For such a boring bottle - this was great! I am so happy to have a good Mexican beer to order now instead of being limited to Crappy Corona.

Not much of an aroma, light hops. Nice dark amber color, not really a ’dark’ beer. Has a light watery texture, very easy to put a few of these away. Trace of malt favor with a hop aftertaste. Another one of what I call ’light dark beers’. Not bad though. I’d drink it again.

If you are at a Mexican restaurant, please get this instead of Corona. Coppery colored and not very hearty for a darker beer but I can’t complain too much, as it went great with my enchiladas.

Slight chocolate/burnt caramel on the nose. Smooth and dry and tasted rather flat. The restaraunt I tried this in served it with a glass on the side rimmed with salt and a lime. They said they served all their beers this way......

Nice bottle, you look sharp and sophisticated drinking this exceptional dark brew.

ruddy amber. functional head, but no extra credit there. better than dos equis amber for sure, but that’s not saying much. decent malt presence, i get a hint of corn tortilla and perhaps cumin, but i reckon that’s because i’m tasting it in an authentic mexican restaurant. modest sweetness, brisk palate, a trace of hoppiness. the food seemed to wash down pretty good, so cleansing and refreshing are the operative discriptions.

If you’re a beer lover who happens to get stuck in a part of the U.S. where good beer is hard to find on typical restaurant menus (e.g., many of the Tex-Mex restaurants I’ve been to), you could do a lot worse than this one.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2005 Like many others have said here, probably the best accessible Mexican brew out there. I was just recently introduced to this one, and may be the only Mexican I drink from this point. Up until I found this, it was mostly Dos Equis amber, if anything. But as others here also say, it’s probably best with food rather than by itself. But it has the best bite on any Mexican beer I’ve had, and I’ll definitely come back to it again, especially at a Mexican restaurant.

Good dark beer. But for some reason, Bohemia is just a tiny bit better. Maybe because I drink it more often than NM.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2012 Dark beer, slightly burned flavor and a bit hop aroma - I was a bit diappointed though, the NM-clone we made on the basis of ’Clone Brews’ was much better :-)
