Ya know, it’s difficult, sometimes, rating a beer I’ve been drinking for numerous years because I liked the taste in the first place. I’ve turned lots of beer drinker compadres of Bud, Coors, Miller , etc. on to Negra Modelo and invariably, it’s met with a pleasant response. I like Negra Modelo and unto thems that don’t, heck, that’s ok, too.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: this is a very clear dark amber color that’s almost brown, doesn’t really pour with a head Aroma: sweet, molasses, sugar cane, very malty sweet, perhaps some tart, smells good if not complex Taste: malty sweetness, perhaps some nut but mostly caramel, has the faintest bit of earth, Palate: soft carbonation, moderate mouthfeel, doesn’t really leave an aftertaste, Overall: not bad at all, better than I was thinking, very easy drinking with all malt flavors essentially, some grain aroma and taste starts to show itself as it warms---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma of malts, raisins, caramel toffee. Flavour is sweet caramel. A bit thin-bodied. Not bad for a mass-produced Mexican beer.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pretty light brown. Sweet malt up front, but no taste beyond this. Squat bottle with gold foil is attractive. However, but a totally bland brew.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at Wahaca. Looks dark brown, hardly any head at all, just a few bubbles. Aromas of malt, chocolate and spice hints, cocoa. Taste is smooth and easy to drink, starts out as quite a standard lager with malt, bit of wheat, and finishes with dark malts and a hint of chocolate. Pretty good.
