Nothing to write home about for me, but I wouldn’t turn one down either. I was a little surprised to see this beer with such a high rating on other sites. Negra Modelo is an earthy, malty ale with medium carbonation that goes down pretty smooth and would pair up nicely with just about any meal at the dinner table. This type of beer however, has been done over and over again. It still beats drinking most Bud or Coors brews, but Modelo is going to have to come at me with a little more then just a cute styled bottle and some fancy foil around the neck. I probably won’t purchase another six pack of this after mine is gone, but then again, who knows.

Bottled. Sampled simply for the rating. This was slightly better than expected. Some notes of caramel malt, even some chocolate. Thin body.

355ml bottle. Malt-forward and, as a result, on the sweeter side with chocolate and caramel characters to the fore. Light to medium body, medium carbonation with a short, soft-intensity finish. Low impact.

Pours a deep brown. Not a lot on the nose except for some caramel sweetness. To taste it is by all accounts a fruity lager. Nothing special but would drink another.

Very unusual for a Mexican beer. However great Amber color, nice Aroma and a well balanced Taste.
