malt followed by slight hops. Finshes with grape, apple.
ethomson (13), Huntington Beach, California, USA Jul 6, 2008 Pretty good mexican beer. Easily drinkable for a darker colored beer. Nutty, roasty flavor, I didn’t really taste the caramel flavor like everyone else said in their reviews. Fairly smooth finish, it was a decent beer, I’d drink it again. I would imagine this beer would go excellent with Mexican cuisine. Butters (227), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 6, 2008 I marginally liked this beer when I’ve had it in the states. I LOVED this beer when I was stranded in mexico. Definitely the best beer I was able to get down there. It was so refreshing and nutty, compared to all the other piss down there. Beautiful clear brown pour with good tan head. Toffee notes in aroma. Caramel, roasty flavor. Medium body with fair carbonation. Wonderfully refreshing and smooth finish. I’d drink this over any other mexican cerveza. BlockBrew (48), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA Jul 5, 2008 Poured dark brown with tan head. Light flavor of dark malts. Decent beer to go with a taco. JonR888710 (983), Cochabamba, Bolivia Jul 3, 2008 Pours a brownish-amber. Mora cola-like than a porter. Smells of caramel and toasted malts, chocolate. Taste is wet and choclately ending with the asaid toasted malts. This isn’t a complex beer, but its not bad either. Very middle of the road, and again, a Latin American beer designed to be paired with very flavorful and spicy food. The heavy malts definitely cool down the palate better than a regular lager. Not bad. Sampled out of a 12 oz bottle at La Tolteca, Manassas, VA. mdm46410 (504), Griffith, Indiana, USA Jun 24, 2008 Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a shaker. This beer poured a crystal clear, dark amber/brown hue with a thin head of fizzy tan foam. No retention, no lace. The aroma of the beer was sweet, toasted grainy malts and a little caramel. Flavor was the same with a minimal hop bite at the finish. The mouthfeel was light-bodied with aggressive carbonation. Not terrible, but not all that enjoyable, either.
