bottle - pours a light ruby color with a few bubbles here and there as a head. The aroma is nutty with a slight bit of fruitiness. The taste is nutty with a hint of caramel, too weak in my opinion to be a true vienna, this brew is a bit watery and could use some body. The finish is lightly bitter. All else aside it’s drinkable and considering the source not all that bad.

No need to be snobbish here just drink from the glass cold and enjoy. Good luck keeping it to just a few as there extraordinarily easy to drink even with a big plate of tasty Mexican cuisine. After a day of fishing in the hot sun open and smell the sweet carmel. Appearance is amber as noted . No heavy lacing or anything like just super clean refreshing modelo with a sweeter caramel body. Taste: sweet ,caramel clean with the drink ability of Modelo. Amazingly with the popularity the taste has not changed in decades . So many commercial brews have faded in quality based on the demand however not Negra Modelo. Palate: real easy to knock back a six pack without really trying. Clean absolutely the perfect dark beer for quenching a wicked thirst . Its not Trappist monk complex just excellent amber lager at a reasonable price. Overall: Last six beer purchases watched a multitude of age groups and ethnicity all choose Negra Modelo here in California. This beer crosses age groups as its been stable for so long . A go to dark beer nearly every girl likes which says a lot as to the nature of this classic. Absolutely no skunk, metallic, over kill on the hops leaving ones mouth way to dry or the typical pre roasted malts many use these days that leaves a fake smokey flavor. Just clean smooth ridiculously easy to drink dark lager. Imagine you just landing a big tuna or marlin off the Mexican coast on a hot day. Celebration as ice cold negra modelos are passed to the crew in salute. Aww! the refreshing first sip that just gets better and better leading to another without overkill on the alcohol at 5.3% Pass on the fake smoke flavor of Samuel Adams Boston lager or fat tire amber ale bring on more Negra Modelo. Also note Negra Modelo sells for as little as $11.99 a 12 pack at rite aide stores and many discount retailers. Good luck finding a beer of equal quality for the same price. Oh and the 48 rating? Everyone does not drink Trappist monk brews where your wallet is hit harder than a punch to the gut. The cute little 11.2 oz bottles for 8 bucks a piece to make a statement your a snob with to much time and money to waste. Some people do work for a living. Negra Modelo is a perfect working mans beer for a summer BBQ as well. Compliments and requests where bought are the norm when offered to guests. lastly for a commercial beer there is little to no hangover symptoms from all the additives many use to keep their beer stable and fresh. Take note of the bottling date and drink within appropriate dates. Invite some Friends and take the Pepsi challenge with Sam adams,Fat tire, and other amber lagers, rinse with water then offer the negra modelo. Note which one wins the challenge as the best amungst a wide group Cheers!!

On draft and served with lime wedge. A watery summer lager intended to quench thirst with a bit of lagered malt flavor. Nothing special and not bad on a hot day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 35.5cl/355 ml. A clear dark amber colour with a small, good lacing, off-white head. An aroma of caramel, fruit and vegetables. The taste is medium sweet and light bitter. A medium body.

Ruby coloured with an off white diminishing head. A slight caramel malt flavour. Light and refreshing but short on character.

Light brown color with a decent head. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is the same as the aroma with a little bit of caramel. Pretty decent.

Reviewed from notes. This one was poured into a pilsener. The appearance has a decent looking amber color to it with a half finger’s worth of white foaminess that quickly dies and leaves a light lacing that slides into the body. The smell was malty and somewhat roasty. The taste was sweet and came across really dry in the aftertaste. I didn’t get any finish whatsoever. On the palate, this one sits about a light to medium with a decent sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation seemed fairly smooth. Overall, I say this wasn’t a bad Vienna Lager, worthy of having again, but I think if I really wanted a Vienna Lager again I’ll go with Sam Adams Boston Lager.

Bottle. Amber-brown pour with a small white head. Caramel, banana and candied fruits in the aroma. Flavour is roasted malts, caramel, some dark fruits, and a touch of lager-ish hops. Not what I expected, and not all bad.
