A malty, clean-drinking pilsener from Republika Srpska in BiH. In a place where what you drink is far more a statement about the drinker than about the beer, Nektar is far less offensive in taste than in label--as the label pretty much de-marks the Serb-Muslim border.

Bottle @ The WWGT2D? Tasting. Thanks to Travlr, whose ratings are garbage. Slightly hazy gold with basically no head whatsoever. I hope that haze is chill haze, right? The nose is pretty papery, as you’d expect. Some caramel-dipped red apple. Sugary muffin mix. The taste is not good. Apple cider and cocoa mix. Cardboard, toffee. The absence of character or personality. Light body, hardly any carbonation. Weird. Not good.

Bottled shared by Travlr at the April 5, 2014 Charlottesville tasting. Thanks for the rare country tick! Pours a hazy golden color with not much of a head. Sweet malt aroma. Raisin and a bit of salt. Cloying. The taste is sweet cereal grain, raisin, a mild hint of hops. Low carbonation, thin body.

Aroma - cracker jack caramel, wet cardboard and corn Appearance - body is a yellow straw color; liquid is hazy, but with broken down floaty bits, kind of disgusting; the head is just a thin layer of foam. Taste - a caramel, cracker jack type of caramel malt and no real hops to speak of. Taste - body is light; texture is thin; carbonation is flat; finish is abrupt

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear pale gold with minimal head. aroma of some light tropical fruits and dry dog food that has gotten wet on accident. Taste is pretty standard pale lager. Grains, cardboard and some light dirty hops. Light bodied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and not much of a finish. Hmm, crappy beer but another country tick!

Can, 0.5l. Nothing special. Classic metallic aroma, for commercial lagers. In flavour just basic sweetness. Crisp, light. Boring.

kramer (4684) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 29, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear yellow gold with a small fizzy white head that faded quickly to a thin ring. The nose is pretty rough, some thin caramel and corn syrup with some light cooked veggies. The flavor is just slightly less offensive, lots of corn syrup and veggies, some thin caramel sweetness, lingering sweet finish. Light bodied with a little clinginess and soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty typical Pale Lager, interesting country tick though.
