mgermani (621), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 16, 2007 Pours a dark amber with a minimal white head and some lace. Aroma of milk chocolate and syrupy sweetness. Surprisingly hoppy and a bit roasty at first, and then the taste thins out and becomes very watered-down with an only slightly hoppy and dry-grape aftertaste. Notes of pomegranate and citrusy hops. Terribly thin body, way overcarbonated. Nowhere on the label do they say what kind of beer this is supposed to be - what are they aiming for, here? Meh. presario (2441), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Sep 15, 2007 GCBF sample. Dark copper. Thin head. Moderate malty aroma. Malty body with hints of chocolate. Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 22, 2007 Quite a boring beer, although I admittedly am unfamiliar with the style. However, I have a feeling that milds get much better than this. tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 24, 2006 Strong roast and chocolate in the aroma almost mask an underlying butteriness. Cola-like appearance features an almost opaque, dark brown body that is topped by a fizzy, fine bubbled, tan head that recedes rapidly to partial cover. Chocolate and roasted notes are apparent in the flavour along with some flat nutty notes, hints of licorice and that same underlying buttery character. Medium light body is slick and oily in texture with very sharp, pointy carbonation. Snifter. Cellar temperature. Bottle (BCLS at 8th/Cambie, Oct-06). CapFlu (3340), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Oct 1, 2006 (Bottle) Much of what I thought of the Cantebury can be said for this beer as I didn’t really understand its raison d’etre? Malty, mildly coffee, oily and somewhat boring. I actually like most beers from this brewery but I found this lacking everything.
