Bottle--quite old, so this isn’t necessarily indicative of the beer. Pours a cloudy reddish-brown with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt and a touch of fruit. Flavors are mostly crystal malts and a bit of roasty, grainy character. Some light fruit and a bit of cardboard from the oxidization. All in all, fairly sweet, but smooth and inoffensive.

Bottle. Dark russett brown with red and no head. Aromas are sweet toffee malts with earthy spicy hops. Flavours are sweet malts with Autumn fruit. Peppery hops with a dry finish. Reasonable.

Cask - JDW, Canterbury. A dark amber/light brown beer with an average off-white head. Sweet all-round and not in a particularly good way. Caramel dominates this beer in its entirity and, for a bitter, it seriously lacks much in the hop department. Seems an odd amalgam of flavours that fail to come together on the tongue. It wasn’t terrible but it seemed unrefined.
