Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Apr 10, 2005 Cloudy blond. Light wheat and banana aroma. Very light palate. Hardy anything at all in terms of flavour beyond the most cursory bread note. I like Nelson Brewing, but this beer I could do without. JoeMcPhee (3899), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 8, 2005 341 ml bottle. Pale cloudy yellow colour. Light dusty wheat aroma mixed with some marshmallow. Flavour is barely there, tastes wet, some wheaty dryness, faint tartness. Very thin-bodied. Pretty boring. CapFlu (3353), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Jul 6, 2006 (341ml bottle) Purchased from the BC Liquor Store at Cambie for $1.92. Usually I like the beers from this brewery but this selection was somewhat weak. Pours a frothy medium head with a clouded yellow body. Nose of white wine (?), yeast and dough. Flavour is milky, horseblanket and weak soggy yeast. Its almost a poor Pils wheat with less excitement. Crit (2258), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Nov 22, 2005 Gold, small with head. Light spicy hop wheat nose. Must be a bad bottle, tastes like tea DuffMan (2136), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jul 9, 2006 side-by-side comparison of two local American wheats: this one and Grasshopper by Big Rock. Liplock is much lighter in colour, a very pale yellow with a slight haze to it. With the Big Rock beer there is a definite wheaty estery component to the nose, but with this one it is more tangy, and slightly lemony. Grasshopper has more of a wheaty palate too, whereas this one is pleasantly light and a little tart, but without much substance to it. A refreshing summer beer to be sure, but not a lot of character to comment on.
