Bottle from Arden Wines. Orange amber mist, silky white lid. Lacing. Tangy Fruit Salad hops and yeast poking through, hints of choc and (unsickly) sweet vanilla pod aroma. Good clean vanilla malt sweetness. Underpinning of pithy grapefruity hops. Bit of pineapple. Earthy, leading into a creamy, slightly nut-accented aftertaste. Unexpectedly fine.

Cask conditioned handpump Eastgate Northampton 10/09/13 A classic brown coloured beer with a white bubbly head. Quite chalky in the mouth. Fizzy fruitiness. Predominant sweetness but perfectly decent. A tiny touch of acidity right at the end but itís drinkable enough. Iím aware of Nelsonís reputation with some but this is OK.

Bottle conditioned: Smells of citrus fruit and hay. Straw gold colour. Intense peppery flavours with some tart tangerine going on too. Like most bottled beers, in my opinion, it’s better on cask.

Cask at the íBlue Anchorí pub Hammersmith. Drank by the Thames in the sun. Pale yellow with a bubbly white head. Not much going on in the smell at all - I really canít pick anything out to describe. Body is medium to big for the style. Taste is slight butter and grapefruit, fresh mildly bitter finish. Drinkable.
