Cask handpull at The Phoenix, Canterbury. Distinctive Nelson yeast on aroma. In the mouth the malts are good, some roast, and then quite parching hop finish. It’s a pleasing beer, lots of flavour and I was quite impressed.

Cask at The Man of Kent, Rochester: Golden ale. Very sweet, overly so, quite cloying. Little bit of biscuity malt. This is not very good.

The Black Horse, Walcote. Still and meekly fruity. Watered-down mandarin, pine, slightly smoky grain and biscuit to close. Unsettling potato backtaste. Totally wrapped in lace. Alright.

Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Gold amber with white head. Pretty straight forward standard bitter, nothing outstanding. A restrained hop finish with a cereal malt body, pretty uninspiring. Average.

Cask Stillage at Lewisham Theatre, Catford 14/06/2001 Light on the palate and very bitter. Hoppy finish.
