Vargatul (138) - Bucharest, - AUG 13, 2012
UPDATED: MAR 25, 2013 This beer was produced to celebrate 160 years since the birth of the great playwright Ion Luca Caragiale, known as Nenea Iancu, who was also a great lover of beer. Itís produced by Memminger Brauerei for Bavarom Romania, it was first distributed in all major cities of Romania, but i drank it in Bucharest, at Berăria Kovaci. Pale golden colour, clear liquid with a long, creamy, white head. Aroma has notes of cereals, hops, malt, honey, fresh bread. Sweety taste, lively carbonation, medium body, bitter finish. Itís very refreshing and very tasty!

No comment, a poor lager, no distinction from the mainstream, industrial lagers in Romania e.g. Ursula, Ciuc, etc.

Bottle. Decidedly malty beer with notes of hay and straw. Hops almost escapes perception, while the bitterness is light and dry. Watery texture, light sweetness. Well, just a regular, not really well made helles. To be frank, I enjoyed some of the Romanian corporate lagers more than this one.

Bottle at Jarvis Pub, Timisoara. Very pale yellow, sour corn grain, sticky body. Full, waxy grain. Not great, I couldnít really finish my glass.

BOTTLE 50CL. Look: Clear yellow, white frothy head. Aroma: malty and a bit of corn, light grassy hops. Taste: sweet malty, a bit of grassy hops, grainy/husky, lots of carbonation, sweet malty finish with minimum hops. Hey, whereís the hops?

Bottle. Pours crystal clear pale golden, medium white head, kind of fizzy, some lacing. Aroma is grain and grass. Flavor is the same, light sweet and light plus bitter. Light body. Meh.

Pale golden beer with a weak aroma and a weak sweet taste. Palate sensation is ok, itís not watery.

MarkoNm (774) - Novo mesto, SLOVENIA - MAY 27, 2014
Pours a very pale yellow color, topped with rather avergae white head. The retention is bad. There is a malty aroma and thatís all that can be picked up. The taste is sweet and malty. No real bitterness. Nothing special about it. Rather bland.

ciocanelu (101) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - APR 24, 2014
Pale color with medium head. Poor retention, poor lacing. Aroma is mainly malt, didnít get anything else. Taste is also malty, nothing special. Body feels medium and smooth with decent carbonation. "Blonde Special Beer" that didnít have anything special.

500ml bottle. Pale yellow body, medium white head with no retention. Aroma of dough, grains, corn, a tad metallic. Nasty taste of mineral water, grass, grains and a bit medicinal. Extremely poor and overpriced.
