Bottle. Wheat and malt aroma, cloudy brown, white head, medium carbonation, long syrup finish, after taste is like mineral water. Pretty good but Italy has got better stuff.

A sickly copper brew with a long lasting off white head. Sweet peaches and malt are up front in the smell. There is also abc gum and a little bit of old wood. This tastes like sweetened peaches covered in brandy. There is also some toffee in the finish. Notes of wood come through in each drink. A decent brew, but it’s an odd combination of sweet and dry.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ughsmash (6723) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 2, 2013
Bottled. Poured medium orange with a tall whitish head. The aroma picked up sweet caramel and dark fruity notes with black pepper and detergenty accents.. more of the latter as it warmed up. The flavor found sweet caramel, nutty notes, and dark fruit at the core with tangy fruit skins and clovey/white peppery yeast around.. tasty, sweet finish. Medium-bodied with an ok flow through the palate.. decent drinker.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 IrishBoy (3641) - Bakersfield, California, USA - FEB 13, 2013
500ml bottle from Trader Joes Bakersfield. Nose is ripe bananas, sweet caramel, and a hint of molasses. Clear redwood brown with a medium, heavy lacing, beige head. Flavor is slightly sweet with moderate molasses. Actually a good dopplebock for 1.99.

Banana and graham cracker nose, some plastic notes. Cloudy copper, thin head. Caramel dominated flavor with apple and berry accents. Not tart. A bit chemical. Light body, fizzy. Kind of cheap, but not awful.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 DavidWoodruff (262) - Windsor, California, USA - JAN 29, 2013
Slightly murky brown with tan head. Aroma is a bit like a dusty attic with some dark malt notes. Flavor of dried fruit and nuts. Would not have guessed this to be a dopplebock as it tastes much more like an English Old Ale. Ok but out of normal style guidelines.

Cool 50cl swing top bottle pours a deep ruby red amber-ish sort of color with a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up raisin, spiced red apple wedges and some hazel nut like nuttiness. The taste is similar as it puts out a mix of raisins, cherries and spiced red apples as well as a bit of roasted malts and nuttiness. Interesting estery and also nearly astringent maltiness at times.

Looks nice, after that it is pretty disappointing. Dark orange, slight haze, swirly white top. Nose is grain and a bit of malt. Palate is similar, a bid of dough. None of the complexity, esters, fruitiness I expect or need from a doppelbock. From Trader Joes.

Bottle. Poured clear dark copper with a moderate to large light brown head that last with good lacing. Good caramel toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Good well balanced dark sweet malt flavor with a moderate smooth sweet finish of moderate duration. Good doppelbock.
