3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bhensonb (8995) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 1, 2011
500 ml swingtop. Opens with a pop! Pours copper with a 3 finger foamy beige head. Aroma of mild roast malt and nuts. Med body. Foamy carb. Flavor is nutty, roasted malt, and something a little like noble hop. It’s pretty balanced, and it drinks very pleasantly.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ughsmash (6669) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Bottled. Poured clear, coppery-orange with a creamy, sticky beige head. The aroma picked up a blend of redder fruits and detergenty notes with some caramel and nutty malt support. The flavor found tangy caramel and nutty notes at the core, with dried fruit skins and light clovey yeast around.. finished sweet, yet dry with fruits and light nutty notes. Light-medium bodied and tangy on the palate.. smooth, rolling carbonation felt good.. this was far from a great beer, but it was very drinkable.

Half liter bottle from Trader Joe’s Glen Allen, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a large fizzy tan head. Decent head

bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Interesting.

Bottle from Trader Joe’s. A nice copper brew with light orange amber at the edges. There was a thin off white head. Malty dough like nose with some strawberries. A little perfume like with the fruit character. Fruity bread with notes of peaches and dough at the start. The finish is dry and yeasty with hints of caramel and cola. The body is sharply carbonated. Overall, a decent brew if you like sweet malt bombs.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 BVery (4251) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - AUG 23, 2012
Bottle - swingtop. Reddish amber pour with a small foamy head. Nasty stale nose. Dusty caramel malts, a bit sweet, and not much hop balance to the malty sweetness. Not very good at all.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 ChainGangGuy (4122) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAR 25, 2012
500ml bottle - $3.99 at Trader Joe’s in Roswell, Georgia. B.B.E. 02/10/13 (drink up - there’s no way this’ll hold up that long).
Appearance: Pours out a clear, copper-toned body with a smallish, wispy, whitish head.
Smell: Lightly toasted biscuit tops with a razor thin edge of dry caramel, some apple and grape juice hints, and an astringent earthy something.
Taste: Light tastes of biscuits, toast, and caramel with just a little sweetness. Then, the flavors drop out further as a sip of water washes in. As with the nose, touches of apple and Juicy Juice grape juice. Low herbal tones, low bitterness. Drying at the end with a final accent of cheap fruity-flavored gum. Minus an extra twang here or there, it’s not too far removed from the taste of a Killian’s. Really.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Normally, I’d say my arch nemesis unclemattie (on RB) can drink a damn glass of rocks, but I thank him for his outstanding work in also pointing out it’s reminiscent of a Killian’s Irish Red, a thought I had clearing the bottle while waiting for a pizza delivery, though I disagree with his "very refreshing" take, as that little extra sly hint of ill-defined ick kinda killed it for me.
