The time has come to unleash this beast unto the world! Coconut Mudbank Milk Stout is a very limited variation of our Mudbank Milk Stout brewed with coconut milk, coconut cream, and ‘dry nutted’ with copious amounts of shredded coconut, all at a lovely 7.2% ABV. We only brewed 18 barrels of this, and by the time we rack it off we’ll probably be down to 14 barrels, and even a little less after we bottle and keg this beer. That means…..we don’t have a lot of this beer!

Black\brown pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and coconut. Flavor is medium roast malt, hard coffee, light coconut, and a good lingering finishing bitter (some from hops I think). Medium body with good carbonation. solid beer

Transfer from BA review on 6-2-13- Served on tap in a fluted glass Appearance – Served a deep brown color bordering on black. Upon serving there was a one finger off white/cream head on the brew that had a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a nice level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell- The aroma is of a sweet milk chocolate mixed with a moderate amount of coconut. Mixed with these aromas are some nice notes of vanilla and a bit of a coffee smell. Taste – The flavor begins with a nice roasted malt base with hints of milk chocolate. The chocolate grows stronger and seems to pick up coconut milk and vanilla taste as the flavor advances. All the while a light coffee taste lingers in with the other flavors with it getting slightly stronger at the end. While the coffee brings a bit of bitterness at the end, the coconut counters and brings with it a nice bit of sweetness as it surges at the end of the taste, leaving a nice roasted and moderately sweet milk chocolate coconut bar flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the beer was on the slightly thicker side with a carbonation level that was rather average overall. The thicker body was quite nice for the roasted and darker flavors of the brew, giving it a slightly creamier texture on the whole. Overall – A rather tasty milk stout with just enough coconut flavor to give it a little something different in the flavor without being too overpowering.

Bottle from ?? - pours pitch with a clumpy tan head. Aroma is coconut and sweet from the lactose. It’s has some thickness on the palate. It’s surprising boozy for 7%. I’m confused by this one.

Bottle from unknown store. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. I get a bit of the lactose on the nose but not so much on the tongue. There’s definitely coconut there but it’s more subdued than I was expecting. Finishes clean. Eh!

Bottle... RBSG 2014… Pours clear and dark-brown with brilliant flashes of crimson and a small, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The nose is of roasted nuts and milk chocolate. Full-bodied and velvety with tingly carbonation. The sweet, chocolaty and nutty flavor is flanked by a lengthy, roasty, lightly-bitter finish. I picked up no coconut here.

Bottle. Pours dark brown nearly black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and had a hint of toasted coconut. Flavor was creamy smooth with roasted malts, chocolate, mild coffee, subtle coconut and had notes of nuttiness.

Bottle from Canal’s Berlin. Pours out a cola brown color with a small off white head. Aroma is roast, light chocolate, some sweet toasty coconut and mild creamy sweetness. Taste is a bit all over the place, milky coconut, toasted coconut, light nutty notes, mild roast coffee, smooth sweetness, some earthy.nutty coconut. Body slightly thinner than I’d like it.
