Leon is a big beer. So big, it has twice as much malt as any other beer we brew, and also requires us to do a double mash just to reach such a high wort gravity. Each 15 barrel brew has 45 pounds of freshly handmade marshmallow fluff made by our in house chef and Production Manager, Steve Capelli, as well as 16 and half pounds of bittersweet bakers chocolate, and 30 pounds of crumbled graham crackers.

A bit disappointed here. Flavor toys with the elements of a smores without delivering the whole experience. Was going for a simple chocolate, marshmallow, graham cracker taste that would bring me back to my childhood days of sitting near a fire toasting mallows and making gooey smores. Didnít happen. The presence of dark fruit in the flavor ruined that. Not sure why it was there, but it hurts this beer imo. There is no fruit in a smores. Aroma was solid (chocolate and slight marshmallows no graham cracker though), personally the body was a bit heavy. a smooth (minimal carbonation) creamy full body. Maybe a stickiness in the mouth feel would have also helped evoke more of a smores experience? Dark brown pour, opaque black once in a glass with moderate lacing. Alcohol was well hidden. Was so excited by the possibilities, just didnít deliver. Damn shame.

This beer may taste like what the name suggests. To bad it makes for s horrible beer. I get the graham. I like that. Fluff is just white sugar with air. Zero taste. This beer should not have the body that it does. Way to much caramel grain. Not a Russian imperial base in any way. Flavor is not complex at all. To me this is just another ncbc failure ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Light notes of graham cracker and roast with some fruity esters. Appearance is a very dark brown with a moderate tan head. Flavor is sweet with some roast. The mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. The aroma was promising, but I don't enjoy the flavor and mouthfeel of this beer. The flavor is bland and the body is way to high to be enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. There is a solid smoky note in this beer. The graham crake is noticeable in both aroma and flavor. This is a smore in a glass.

Pours black with dark brown head and an appearance of brown sugar. Has a chcolate, malt and brown sugar aroma. Has a creamy taste with chcolate , coffee, brown sugar and light dark fruits. Intersting aftertaste with some malty dark fruits given the coffee/chcolate flavors.

Bottle: Thanks Jdb288: Served in a Chouffe glass: Meeium sized brown head. Black beer. Aromas of chocolate, wood roast, some herbs, cacoa, flowers, marshmallows and malt roast. Flavours of dry cacoa tones, roast (malt & wood), some hops, some mocha, some marshmellows, good bitter, some liquorice, coal and mocha with a teeny tiny cinnamon sprinkle. Aftertaste is bitter, roast, (dry) cacoa powder, coal and roasted malts. Low carbo, thick to oily close to silky mouthfeel, full bodied and a light dry bitter roasty thicker texture. Good stuff! Quite heavy on the bitters and no trace of any sweetness from marshmallows. Well done!

22 oz bottle, 1 year old. Pours black with tall, long lasting, creamy, beige head and lovely carbonation. Aroma is of toasted malt, cacao, bread crust, some hops and alcohol. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Taste is of nutty, toasted malt, coffee, vanilla, chocolate covered cherries, brown sugar, dark fruit and herbal hops. Finish is long, semi-dry. Nice dessert brew.

THOUGHTS: Nice imperial stout. Hard to tell at first if there was anything unique or unusual about the flavor or aroma based on the odd ingredients but as it warmed they began to develop. The aroma was a little hot, but the alcohol was fairly well hidden in the flavor. It was fairly easy to drink for the high ABV. It went down easy. Better and better as it warmed. Went well with cocoa roast almonds. TECHNICAL: Drank 5/12/2013. Bottle. Poured very dark brown that was basically opaque black in the glass with decent legs and a small, light, reddish brown head that mostly diminished. Toward the end it looked like graham cracker crumbs floating in the wisps of the head. The aroma was a little weak compared to the flavor but had moderate chocolate and coffee; light hops when very warm; dark fruit; cherry; slight vanilla; alcohol; pie crust, a little smoke and acrid burnt marshmallows. The initial flavor was moderately sweet, slightly acidic and lightly bitter; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet, light to moderately bitter, slightly sour and lightly acidic. There was chocolate syrup, caramel, molasses, coffee syrup, a little roasted malt, hints of smoke, a little vanilla (which might be marshmallow), something a little like cinnamon, a little alcohol, cherry and other dark fruit, cream, vanilla and I think actually Fluff when warmer, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and, when very warm, pine hops. The medium to full body was oily but sticky on the lips with soft carbonation with a light alcoholic finish.
