4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours chestnut brown with ruby highlights. Small-medium mocha head persists and leaves attractive lacing.
On the nose, honey asserts itself immediately, although tracking more as apricot and cherry than orange, with nuts and malt in the mix plus a whiff of yeast.
The palate is more complex, starting with dark fruits. The orange note then appears strongly enough to justify the advertising. There’s a bit of banana and clove and wheat, then the sweet malt base one expects from a bock. Along with the lush, chewy mouth and low carbonation, the effect is the sort of richness found in a Pedro Ximémez. It’s not that sweet, but profound enough to scare off hopheads.
Another well-conceived effort from this relatively new brewery.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Sparrow, 3/9/15
Aroma: A very heavy sweet aroma, raisin, fig, a little molasses, nutty nots, and some wheat
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a reddish hue, creamy beige head, and fairly heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is along the same lines, heavy sweet/fruity up-front, finishes on the nutty side
Palate: Drinks nicely, cloying, but not as cloying as you’d guess, average carbonation, sticky finish
I just realized I used the phrase "finishes on the nutty side" in my flavor review, which sounds like a road comic describing his mother-in-law. As for the beer, the cloyingness is held just enough in check to make this beer pretty enjoyable. I’m actually surprised I liked it as much as I did considering that I’m not usually a fan of this sweetness level without some balance, but this is a pretty nice beer. Even if it isn’t the perfect beer for me personally, I gotta bump the overall a bit due to the nice complexity.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
on tap at Red Robin in Bensalem - taste is like a winter warmer. You can tell that the higher alcohol content is there along with some spice - good stuff.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours murky chestnut brown with a half finger tan head with pretty nice lacing. Aroma is of banana, toasted malts, chocolate, cinnamon, raisins, sweet malts, toffee, light spicy hops, and some honey comb. Taste is banana bread, toasted malts, bakers coco, brown sugar, honey, raisins, and cherries, and maybe the slightest amount of spicy hops, with a little booze in the finish. Has a medium-full body with as semi creamy mouthfeel and a mostly sweet, medium-long finish. Overall, a decent weizen bock that is a tad too sweet for my tasets
