Tribute Tripel – After countless water testing and system checks, Tribute Tripel was the first beer to be brewed at Neshaminy Creek Brewing. Overall, we’re really happy with the way the rampup on this beer turned out. We feel it’s very true to style of a classic Belgian Tripel, a Tribute if you will The 9.3% ABV is very deceptive, so don’t underestimate this beer. Sometimes American brewers have a tendency to use far to many spices in this style and don’t rely enough on the yeast to do what it does best, and for this style, that’s hugely important. The bitter orange peel and coriander add a citrus flavor and spice note that help this beer finish on the dry side. We’re hoping attenuation will be a tad better on the upcoming batches, because in my opinion this style can never finish dry enough, but overall the first batch of Tribute finished quite well and so far the feedback has been great.

Pours a hazy golden yellow color. Aromas of yeast, some fruit and spice. Taste is yeasty and medicinal, can really taste the alcohol in this one.

Pours a very hazy, dark burnt orange color with tangerine edges and a one finger white head that slowly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lace left behind. Slightly spicy aroma with bready yeast and estery light fruit notes. Some pepper, clove and faint earthy hops followed by apple, pear and booze. Pale malt backbone with hints of bread and biscuit. Medium bodied with a slight creamy texture and a strong zesty spice presence up front that lingers over the bready yeast, light fruit notes and alcohol into a slightly dry finish. The spices are a bit overpowering with lots of pepper, clove, coriander and possibly some ginger. This takes away from estery fruit sweetness a bit but there’s still some vinous fruit, apple and pear flavor. Strong yeast component with banana and bread character before fishing with strong alcohol sweetness. Not hot per se but lots of alcohol flavor.

Pours clear and pale orange in color with a creamy head. Aroma of cloves, Belgian yeast, citrus juice. Flavor is malty sweet, grapefruit juice, and boozy as it warms. Too malty and sweet IMO. Just OK.

Taste is sweet fruity some citrus, spices, biscuit malt and yeast with some moderate herbal hops bitterness. A medium body on the palate. crisp with good carbonation. Finish is sweet spiced sugary notes, biscuit malt and yeast with some moderate herbal hops bitterness for balance. Alcohol is well behaved but you feel it in the end. Overall a good drinking and enjoyable brew.

Pour is a nice looking clear gold with a small white head. Aroma is big on candi sugar with some kiwi fruit and spice. Flavor is at first is a noticeable thickness with some fruitiness but then a big dose of alcohol hits you. Finish is dry but again very heavy and leaves a little burning. There are some positives here like the nice fresh fruit but this was way too thick and syrupy for the style and it does not hide the alcohol well at all.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a creamy white head. Aroma of yeast, citrus, fruit and spices. Flavor was yeasty with ripe fruit, citrus, candi sugar, faint pepper and had a light bitterness. Sticky texture, medium body, dry finish.

Bottle. Slightly sweet aroma, rosy orange color, medium body. High alcohol spoils the trippel taste, too much of an edge to this and an unpleasantly long bitter finish. Good if you’re looking for a buzz, maybe not if you are a trippel fan.
