Really enjoyed this one, rich smooth and a bit of roast, very nice take on the style.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Sparrow, 10/27/13

Aroma: Th aroma is malty and sweet, some dough, bread, caramel, and a little spice
Appearance: It pours a cloudy orange-red color with a nice beige head and mid-plus lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, heavy malty and bready, with some spice hop notes
Palate: The body is medium, leaning light, with a spicy, tingly feel, and a fairly short duration
Overall Impression: Thought this one was an okay Oktoberfest. There’s nothing wrong with this beer per se, and it seems to be on-style well enough, but the style just doesn’t have a ton of range, and this beer just doesn’t have too much going on either.

Draft sample @ Crossroads Spirits. Poured a cloudy burnt orange color with a small creamy off white head. Aroma of sweet dried fruit, dough, grain, and toffee. Taste of citrus rind, sweet fruits, sour dough, and caramel malt.

22oz bomber via Spirits Brick. Poured a cloudy mud colored orange/amber with a smaller slightly off white frothy head. Aroma of wet dates and nuts, wet bread, grapes, walnuts, slight syrup and plywood. Body is fuller with average carbonation and an average lingering aftertaste. Flavor is not good, grap;e skins, citrus rinds (older), dates, figs and raisins, along with dough and wet bread. Not NCBC’s best beer by any means.

Bottle from Hop Shop. Pours brown with a half inch of khaki foam that fades quickly. Not much lacing in the glass. A bit of copper on the nose. Some solid coppery caramelish malt on the tongue. Finishes slightly dry. It’s not bad for the style.

Bomber. Nose is pale malt citrus with heavy spicy cracker, a little dusty yeast with low-level chocolate on the very bottom. Pours a murky, tawny amber-brown with a soapy tan head. Taste is sweet with caramel and dark chocolate, toffee, spice and dough, some earth -- really getting some great flavors but most really aren’t traditionally germane to style. Especially liking that spicy rye-like character -- gotta be from the hops, right, if this beer is reinheitsgebotskonform? Crisp medium-full body with light tartness and a hint of yeast, feel is much more that of an ale. Grass, low but pleasant bitterness until the gummy yeasty-bready resolution. Enjoyed.

Murky amber body, medium sized off-white head, minimal lacing. Nutty caramel, bread, and light earthy hops. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light sweetness in the finish.

Draft at Alla Spina with Pat and Sean Tommy. Pours a hazy reddish amber with medium, diminishing beige head and soapy lace. Nose of caramel, nut, copper. Medium body. Not bad but I had this right after Ayinger
