I do not know why this got such bad ratings. It had one of the most unique aromas and tastes I’ve had in a long time. While not your traditional ESB, it’s totally worth drinking. The bouquet is very rich. It’s like orange marmalade and honey on white toast with hints of smokey clove. Its got a similar flavorful sweetness with some soft bitterness along the edges. The palate is solid with lively carbonation.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 scottw86 (1019) - Maryland, USA - DEC 2, 2012
Poured a hazy copper color with a huge white head. Aroma has lots of fruity and sweet notes. Some apples with a touch of caramel. Taste is very carbonated. Lots of apples and fruit in the taste. Smooth and creamy. Finish has some nice grain and fruit flavors that balance nicely. Overall this is flavorful and well balanced!
3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20 Beerenberger (821) - Fischer, Texas, USA - OCT 6, 2012
Aroma is very floral with hints of lemon. A hazy amber pour with a very aggressive mostly lasting rocky an head. Taste is a toss up up between bitter and sour with some floral notes thrown in. Strong citrus flavor up front but finishes dry with a slight bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium-light with medium carbonation. Overall, while enjoyable, not sure that this the best example of the bitter style.
