I disagree with the low ratings folks gave this. I thought it was excellent. Flavorful but still quite drinkable. I could smell/taste the nice minerals. Serving: Bottle

Aroma of roasted malts with notes of chocolate, and fruit. Pours a cloudy brown with rapidly dissipating tan head and minimal lacing. The taste is roasted malt, and raisin with notes of toffee and chocolate. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, an excellent example of a British porter. Would drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer pours with a thick and creamy white head supported by a deep rich dark malty beer. There is a potent caramel and roast aroma which compliment the carefully balanced blend of chocolate and caramel finished with a subtle hint of smoked malts. A very smooth beer completely inoffensive and its high alcohol content does not overpower the flavours and aromas. A really top class porter style beer.

Bottle from B&M Bargains; dark brown pour with substantial beige head, roast malt aroma, quite bready malt taste I expect more coffee tones from a porter, slightly nutty some caramel.

Poured from 500 ml bottle. Opaque black brown with decent head that gradually settled. Excellent lacing. Aroma: Light toffee and coffee aroma with hints of chocolate and raisins. Rather faint aroma over all. Taste: Malt with notes of chocolate, coffee and toffee. Mild, but rather pleasant. Medium body and carbonation. Easy to drink. Pleasant beer overall, but nothing special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

chinchill (586) - South Carolina, USA - MAR 28, 2013
Poured from a 500ml bottle (new and better label), with a starting temperature about 55F, into a St. Bernardus snifter. It pours dark mahogany brown/black in color with a moderate size, soapy head. Ample sticky tan lacing is left on the glass. Smell: A very appealing and lightly sweet medium roasted malt aroma with plenty of raisin and hints of hops and toffee, Taste [8.5]: also a nice mix of dark fruits and medium malts, with hints of vanilla, coffee (in finish), roasted nuts, caramel and toffee. Long-lasting and exceptionally pleasant aftertaste. Mouthfeel: very smooth but a bit too thin. Good, low carbonation level. O: A very good English porter with exceptional taste and aroma.

23.03.2013. 0,5l Bottle. Thanks to Gunnar! Black colour with white head. Aroma of dark malts. Medium bitterness and medium body. Dry, but not like a desert. Very soft porter with mild bitterness and soft carbonation. Aftertaste is medium bitter, with soft aromas of dark malts.

Thought this was an appropriate choice for Mummy’s Day. Another forum for Bish? Really enjoyed this, if not the howlers I witnessed on the box. Just the right amount of chocolate undertone, it’s that classic 1750s taste we’ve all grown to love.

Bottle from myBrewerytap. Pours very dark ruby with a creamy tanned head. Aroma is rich malty, some dark fruits, coffee and chocolate, weak roast. Taste is rich malty, lots of chocolate and moderate roasted coffee, and a decent hoppy bite at the far end, very good porter
