English label: Made only from natural mineral water, organic dark barley malt, organic whole hops, yeast, natural carbonation.

This dunkel pours a medium amber brown color from a 33cl bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is light caramel, touch of fruit, with some earthy hops. A light to medium bodied dunkel. The malts are caramel and a touch bready. The hops are a touch earthy. Lightly carbonated. Touch of spiciness and some smoke. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Bottle as Organic Dunkel (from Ledgers). Medium mahogany color with a decent beige/tan head. Light, slightly roasted, caramel with peppermint? hop for aromas. Thin to medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is light caramel, not all that sweet, and there is a spicey/minty hop. Must be really interesting noble hop - can not recall this flavor from any other beer. Good nose while consuming. Finish is rather mild, goes a bit herbal, or might be earthy, but that nice hop touch hangs in. Reasonably dry. Not one of those sticky darks. What the Heineken and Becks dark lagers could be/should be.

11.2 oz green bottle. Clear copper with frothy tan head. Caramel malt aroma with spicey hop notes. Carmelized malts dominate flavor with moderate earthy hops. Light body with fairly dry finish.

Pours brown, red hues, with a fast falling tan head. Faint skunked nose and finish. Bready flavors up front, caramel and milk chocolate. Finish has some earthy hops, lightly metallic. Reminds me of Becks Dark.

Bottle. Copper color with good head that completely disappears. Nice bready/biscuity/caramel, cookie malt aroma. Taste is similar with slight herbal/grassy hop. Slight spice on the tongue towards the finish. There is a slight tease of citrus in the aftertste, but it never really comes.

Organic label. Attractive amber with a nicely formed, lasting tan head. Aroma is malt accented, pretty much straight up wort. Flavor matches. Perhaps a hint of very light chocolate. Not catching hops here specifically, but there is a dryness on the finish that prevents the malt from cloying. Seems to have that "decoction" malt profile thing going on. Should note that there was some green bottle skunk going on when it was first poured, but this quickly dissapated. Not quite my thing, but pretty well done overall.

Bottle. Labeled Lammsbrau Organic Dunkel. Pours brown with a strong tan head. Aroma is very malty with caramel, grass, light Euro hops and toasted bread. Taste is toasted malts, caramel, soft dark fruit, spicy and grassy hops, light bread and a hint of honey. Body is light-medium. Bubbly but controlled. The end product is comprised of light spicy hops, some floral hops, toasted malts, and caramel. Not bad!

Huge beige head settles slowly after vigorous pouring by waitress. Brown body. Firm earthy caramel aroma with peppery hop notes and licorice and wild berries. Clear, clean, and harmonic. Dry-sweet earthy straw caramel taste with licorice notes. Slightly watery. Dry papery peppery earthy caramel aftertaste. Not entirely typical. Good, though. (0.5l bottle at Buthmanns, Lübeck.)
