3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Stopped in for a quick pint before heading to a friend’s wedding in Athens. Was hoping to hit up Aromas, but it was closed. Luckily I was able to tick off a new style at the Royal Peasant. Pours a very average medium brown with sweet grainy scent. Very strongly carbonated. Sweet with a slight hint of bitterness. Bottle - The Royal Peasant - Athens, GA

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle:   Brownish hued copper, clear, sudsy white head, sparce lacing.   Strong mealy nose, much worse than
its lighter Pils cousin.   This one really smells like pet food mixed with a rabbit cage.   And again, on the tongue
its not as bad as the nose suggests.   It remains rather mealy tho.   Has that signature dark malt flavor, and even
comes across as a very pale Doppelbock with its chewy breadiness.   Body and mouthfeel are average.   Lingering
toasted malts and sweet alfalfa.   My advice, dont inhale too hard before drinking.   Otherwise you will be just

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown coloured body with some lighter amber tints and a bit of copper hues at the bottom, all with a one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of toasty malt, nuts, earth, caramel and a hint of concord grapes. Medium-bodied; Strong earthy maltiness noticeable with a good sweetness, some light spices and not much else. Aftertaste shows the malt with a hint of alcohol, some sweetness and a good mellow earthiness. Overall, a nice beer - can’t believe I never sampled this one, but well worth a drink, especially if you are eating some German food! I sampled this stubby (german style) 33 cL bottle purchased from Old Europe restaurant in Washington, DC for US$6.00 today on 23-March-2013.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Whole Foods, Bowery 330ml ($3): Pours a light brown. almost amber color, with a creamy looking creme coloured head. Taste is slightly sweet. There be some caramel taste. Not very much in the way of hops. Nothing offensive, but nothing interesting in this dunkel. Well, at least it is organic, hehe.
