Pours a pale orangy amber with aalmost no head or lacing
The aroma is sweet caramal malt
The taste is earty sweet malts and hops wiyh a dry finish KyotoLefty (873), Kyoto, Japan Aug 29, 2008 Light amber color, very fizzy, medium head. Sweet, caramel aroma, similar to their Scottish PA, with toffee, cherries, butterscotch. Buttery, caramel flavor. Sweet but not too much so. Slightly creamy, with a bit of hops. Finish dries out a bit, with more hops and even a touch of citrus in over the malt. Light to medium body, slightly high carbonation. An interesting lager, similar to a Vienna, with a malt signature like their PA. It is sweet and full-flavored but very well balanced. Not fabulous, but good drinking and interesting.
vanrassel (30), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jun 26, 2008 A solid lager, and one that’s recently been reformulated — might explain my higher-than-average rating. A thin, but persistent head topped a light copper body. Syrupy sweet aroma with some bready malt and only faint floral hops. Far more balance detected in the flavour, where caramel sweet malt and toasted grain flavours gave way to dry, mildly bitter hops. Enjoyable, even if it’s not "strongly hopped" as it says in the commercial description. yarry (358), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Apr 28, 2008 473ml can, 5% a/v
Pours a fiery copper colour, with a middling tan head. The aroma is malt, dark sugar and hops. The taste is a bit metallic, fairly sweet and unrefined with very little hops to balance it. Creamy mouthfeel and a bit of an unpleasent aftertaste. All the problems are minor so its not a bad beer but it could be much much better. TheJester (599), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Mar 30, 2008 473 mL can. Copper-orange with a small but persistent head. Aroma of malt, brown sugar, a little hops, and tin. The flavour is decent for a lager, but quite sweet. The hops are there, but not enough. A bit of grainy bitterness at the end. Creamy. Medium to thin body. Nicely carbonated. A decent lager. Illuminatus (87), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Mar 25, 2008 473mL can from the LCBO. Pours an appealing orange/amber, with a one-finger white head. Lacking in aroma, mostly thin malt. Decent mouthfeel, not overcarbonated. Sweet malt, a slight fruit note, lightly hopped. A good lager. matt7215 (825), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Mar 13, 2008 473 ml can from the lcbo. pours a nice amber with a short lived pure white head and lotsa carbonation (3+). aromas of some floral hops with some light sweet malts. flavours are well balanced and subtle. light sweetness before a touch of hops and creamy long finish. if i drank lagers this would be a go to brew for sure. very well done neustadt.
