Nice amber colour with white head. Hint of coffee in the taste. Malty flavor. A bit too carbonated. Strong for an ABV this low.

Looked like it was a good beer in the glass, nice amber brown colour, decent white head. Not much aroma to speak of, sweet malts and a tiny bit fruity. Flavour is where this beer lost me, found it very bitter, carbonated and with a strong alcohol kick even though its only 4.5%. Sweet fruity taste at the back of the mouth but its overpowered by the bitterness. Not a very pleasant drink.

Thanks Derek for the bottle! Sweet malt aroma, some fruit, plum. Slight hop. Sweet fruity malt flavours. Ever so gentle hop profille. Watery, and thin. But considering the ABV, it is decent. Pretty good. Thanks again Derek.

2008-05-23. Double Fuggled Edition. Dark amber body with a small beige head. Mild hoppy aroma, light sweetness and mild caramel malt notes. (6+) Similar flavour is quite well balanced, with a pleasant bitterness throughout and a caramel malt base. (6+) Average palate is pretty nice for a cask. (3+) Did not knock my socks off but I could enjoy a few pints of this over an evening I expect. 6+/3/6+/3+/14 - 3.3 On Cask at C’est What <P>April 2005. Draft. A scottISH ale, not a SCOTCH ale. Amber brown body, small white head. Some malt in the aroma,. Flavour is surprisingly alcoholic for such a low octane beer, some sweet malt throughout. Palate is on the thin side but acceptable. Bit dull really, I much prefer their 10W30. 6/3/6/3/12 -3.0

Wow I’m surprised you guys like this stuff. I do not at all. I had this out of a bottle in Hanover while on vacation 2 summers ago and found it highly undrinkable. Just tasted nasty to me and my buddy. My friend who lived in Neustadt told me the only time they got this stuff was when the beer store was closed and they had no choice but to go to the brewery to get some kind of suds.

fresh. Easy drink, utility brew. Will be popular. Some Scotish taste and not too malty Light hops, could use more. Nice mid-sip bit of fruit there, like apricot and pear. Woody paper. watery

I suppose I expect more from something labeled as a Scotch Ale. This ale has a good colour to it. The nose is mild, definitely not overwhelming. The flavour is subtle and malty with a run-of-the-mill mouthfeel. I think with some tweaking of the recipe this brewery could present a better representative of the style.

Deep amber in colour. Aroma had a very mild sweetness and light malt, maybe some caramel as well. Flavour was of mild malt, quite sweet. Very light body for a scottish ale. Finishes dry and light.
