Oakes (6529), Miami Beach, Canada Sep 22, 2001 For a Scottish style ale, this is lacking in malty fullness. The flavours don't meld quite the way I would like. Bov (4429), Bienne, Switzerland Sep 24, 2001 amber colour, nice head, mango and bred aroma, lack of body and character - the taste does not live up to the promising aroma CapFlu (3235), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Jun 23, 2003 (Bottle) Thanks to Joey_Capps for making this beer available to me. Pours a frothy, yellow head and a thin, light copper body. Medium carbonation activity. Nose of Caramel, orange, earthy undertones. Roasted malt flavour with orange, watered whiskey, and cask. Whiskey finish. It would be great if Neustadt upped the ABV to 6.5-7.0% - interesting things would happen. Again, many thanks to Joe! Radek Kliber (3081), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 25, 2002 I had this one at Smokeless Joe. Well it was ok, nothing great, some head, brownish, drinkable. Social drink. HogTownHarry (3028), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Aug 26, 2007 Bottle (341ml). Sample at 2007 Fort York TFOB. Clear amber with an average off-white head. The aroma reminded me of many Belhaven beers - and I like those - sweet grain, pungent hops, and something tangy that makes me thing "dusty kerosene" for some reason, but in a good way. The taste was a little less tangy, and more cereal grain sweetness, with light honey and grassy hops to balance it - not much alcohol presence at all. Average body, somewhat creamy mouthfeel, nice amount of astringency and carbonation, with a medium-length finish. Decent, very easy to drink, would be a good summer beer for when you want something not too hoppy and not too light.
