50 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA via Winnipeg. Slightly greyish-black pour, opaque in the glass. Creamy tan head that sinks to a thin covering. Roasted malt aroma with some faint alcohol/motor oil notes. Subtle first sip with a building roasted malt and sweet brown sugar bitterness. Warming finish of roasted nuts.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 sound67 (223) - Offenbach, GERMANY - OCT 31, 2009
50cl dark brown bottle, label as pictured. 7.2 % abv.
Pours an opaque, almost pitch black with a huge, creamy beige head of medium retention, but with plenty of lacing.
Aroma is dark chocolate and coffee, with a slight vanilla note.
Medium-bodied porter, with low to medium carbonation. Smooth mouth feel.
Typically chocolaty porter, but with a bitter malty note - kind of a cross between an English porter and a German schwarzbier. Booze is added to the palate, but beer is well balanced. Bitter finish of roasted malt. Dry, coffeeish after taste.
Not the most complex of porters, nor the heaviest (due to the lighter schwarzbier note), but a very, very smooth winter porter that goes down easily despite the higher abv.

Bottle from Beer Geek. Pours brown/black with an ok tan head. Interesting dark aromas. Rather like dark lager. Near full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor is mildly cola with dark roasted malt; touch of chocolate. Not so sweet a finish as some BPs. But nothing like a schwarzbier! Rich and roasty seems accurate. Drinks well.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Boutip (3294) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 10, 2009
Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of black chocolate and light roasted malt is quite enjoyable. Taste is a nice enough mix between some black chocolate with light dry roasted malt with lingering sweetness at the end. Body is fuller then average with good carbonation and no signs of alcohol. Not overly complex but well done and easily drinkable.
