faroeviking (3955), Faroese Beer Republic union of, Denmark May 11, 2008 Botella. Takk til bjórvinurin Jesper. Pours a clear deep brown colour with a nice big fairly well lasting light brown head leaving a good lacing. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate, bit of coffee and hops. Quite good mouthfeel. Sweet roasty maltiness in the flavour along with some chocolate,a ild bitter hoppiness and a little smoke. Nice brew.
tomaz (2), , Germany does not count Jul 20, 2008 This beer is surprising. Compare to other german black bier, it is really nice color, deep black. The taste is great, the aromas present are coffee, vanilla, but it is way too sweet to the point i am wondering if articial aromas are added. Why are the brewers making it sooo sweet, somethin to hide? Like a bitter background? dont know, but I hate the way germans do, the same with wine, adding sugar to please the taste of people too used to sweet stuff. ekstedt (1739), Göteborg, Sweden Jun 10, 2008 Bottle (50 cl) from a local beer store in Berlin. Dark copper with a medium beige head. Roasted chocolate & coffee with some toffee and vanilla. Way too sweet, which is a pity, because this could potentially be a very interesting Schwarzbier. gnoff (2532), Göteborg, Sweden Jun 8, 2008 (50 cl bottle from a shop in Berlin) BB 21.01.09 On June 7, 2008 Dark deep red color, light brown head. Chocolate, coffee, acidic scent, also grainy. Very sweet sugary taste, rather dissapointing. Thin mouthfeel, low bitterness. chris_o (4393), London, Greater London, England May 26, 2008 Bottle at Kobehavnske Oldage, May 2006. Black. Smells of coffee. Tastes of sweet, unfermented wort. More like one of those chewy malt soft drinks than a beer. Historic and rare it might be. Palatable it isn’t - for me anyway. At least these guys don’t seem hidebound by German style conformity.
KimJohansen (2460), Copenhagen V, Denmark May 12, 2008 Dark brown with medium beige beige head. Sweet aroma with notes of roasted malt, caramel, coffee and caramel. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, caramel, coffee, liquerice and chocolate. Ends sweet.
