COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The great Bill Monroe described his bluegrass music as “Scottish bagpipes and ole-time fiddlin’. It’s Methodist and Holiness and Baptist. It’s blues and jazz, and it has a high lonesome sound.” Our Black & Blue Grass begs to concur. Belgian yeast and stateside Saison spicing; black pepper and blue agave and lemongrass, and a great bet alongside any food you have around. Or, just enjoy a bomber of Black & Blue Grass as you watch the springtime ponies run.

Bottle. Poured clear copper color with a minimal to average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate sweet spice and floral aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium spicy sweet flavor with a medium spice finish of moderated duration. Refreshing complex beer.

651mL thanks to my cousins for Christmas! Pours a low haze orange amber with excessive, yellowish carbonation with good retention, rocky, sheen. Nose is peppery, yellow apple, scented candle. Taste is overly dry, bland, yellow, very papery. Palate is drained, newspaper, palate suffocating.

Sample at the Aficionado’s "Hidden Gems" beer tasting on 05/24/2013: Clear orange pour with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Spices and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of bready malt, spice and hops. The finish is sweet with a grainy malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2012 Tap at source. Citronella, rose and light agave aroma. Amber color with no head. Lemon peel and rose flavor. Light body. Strongly floral. A different beer - hard to categorize. Unique to say the least - in the same vein as their Kentucky Kommon and Strathpeffer beers.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Medium golden body, with perfumey lemongrass and cracked peppercorns. Pale malts, perfumey lemongrass, slightly soapy, with a nice peppercorn note in the finish. No heat. Low bitterness. I liked it.

On tap at Cincinnati Winter Beer Fest (CWBF) 2013. Mildly hazy amber color. Foamy off-white head. Fruity (agave?) nose. Medium body. Smooth carbonation. No viscosity. Agave fruity taste, some wheaty bread. Light bitter taste. Sweet finish. Interesting stuff. Solid agave ale. Some nice light hop to it.

Yellow pour with a white head. The aroma has some strong lemon and wheat notes. The flavor is full of lemons, pepper and coriander. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a short lived small off-white head. The aroma is sweet honey like, floral, agave nectar and spices. The flavor is moderately sweet, but has more bready qualities than the nose would indicate. Light floral notes, spices and agave nectar splashed with honey. This is pretty light and because nothing really grabs me does not give the sensation I’m drinking a beer. Worth trying once.
