COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The great Bill Monroe described his bluegrass music as “Scottish bagpipes and ole-time fiddlin’. It’s Methodist and Holiness and Baptist. It’s blues and jazz, and it has a high lonesome sound.” Our Black & Blue Grass begs to concur. Belgian yeast and stateside Saison spicing; black pepper and blue agave and lemongrass, and a great bet alongside any food you have around. Or, just enjoy a bomber of Black & Blue Grass as you watch the springtime ponies run.

Copper with n white head. Aroma was mainly orange. Taste was flowers, bread and tea. It reminded me of a dryer sheet. Not bad, not great.

Tallahassee, Fl - Whole Foods - 22 oz bomber. Slightly hazy medium copper pour. Muddled aroma - some light spicy notes, some ripening vegetables. Flavor is mellow and uneventful. Some nuttiness, ripening vegetables, a touch of hard to pin down spice - nutmeg perhaps? Mouthfeel is thick enough. Back to the drawing board on this one.

651mL thanks to my cousins for Christmas! Pours a low haze orange amber with excessive, yellowish carbonation with good retention, rocky, sheen. Nose is peppery, yellow apple, scented candle. Taste is overly dry, bland, yellow, very papery. Palate is drained, newspaper, palate suffocating.

draft...poured a reddish color with white head..nose is Belgian plus plenty of lemon grass. lots of lemon grass. the flavor is lemon grass with peppercorns on the back end and blue agave. the lemon grass is to much for this beer and if you don’t like it you wont like it...simple as that..this beer would go good with a white fish...

Yellow pour with a white head. The aroma has some strong lemon and wheat notes. The flavor is full of lemons, pepper and coriander. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bomber from Liquor Barn, Hurstborne. Sounded like an interesting combination of ingredients, even though I’m not crazy about the brewery. Deep golden pour with a nice fluffy head, light lingering carbonation and lacing. Nose is pretty disjointed, with yeast and spice at the center, but lemongrass and agave pulling in opposite directions. Tug of war continues, accentuated by the thin body, with spice struggling to be noticed amidst what’s almost a mentholated character that (sadly) develops at length. Not so good, I’m afraid.

Bomber from Proof. Gold pour, pillowy white head. Aroma is yeast, lemon, pepper. Tastes are the same - citrusy, peppercorn, herbal, honey. Slightly warm. Oily palate and long bitter finish.

Hazy golden beer with a white head. Aromas of lemon peel and citrus zest. Tastes of muted lemon shandy, mild candy sugar, some sweet dough, and black pepper in the finish. There is also a touch of agave which makes the beer a bit more refreshing. The black pepper in the finish is bitter and a bi unpleasant. Light bodied beer, smooth, but not necessarily easy to drink. Not all that great.

Bottle in Vail with my dad. Pour is clear orange-amber with a smal white head and good lacing. Fruity, bready, husky, corny, somewhat sweet, and grassy aroma. Taste is corny, fruity, biscuity, plastic, somewhat vegetal, and doughy. Light body with soft carbonation. Bleh.

Sample at the Aficionado’s "Hidden Gems" beer tasting on 05/24/2013: Clear orange pour with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Spices and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of bready malt, spice and hops. The finish is sweet with a grainy malt aftertaste. Decent overall.
