3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap a super dark brown pour with a hint of amber. A dark tan head that layed there forever. Light aroma of chocoffee and a hint of malt. A flavor that is smooth chocolate almost like chocolate milk. A very subtle bitter at first that slides on into a very good finish. A tad thin but with very good carbonation. A hint of sweet then bitter a decent beer but not over the top.

Going local I followed up one Midwestern release with a new beer from an old standby. It might not be the greatest NABC offering. However neither it is worth passing over unless you have only a limited amount of time to sample their lineup. It shouldn’t be too hard to find around southern Indiana with a little work.
Aroma / Appearance - The mild black base has a brownish edge. Traces of creamy legs trap the ebony tinted head. Roasted peanuts dipped in chocolate are robust. Accompanying it is a dry texture of black coffee.
Flavor / Palate - Fluid, light, and supple, the beer rushes across the tongue like refreshing sips of iced black coffee. Dark malts ripple as they carry black coffee towards the back of the throat. A solid sessionable porter this is average for the style. There may be better out there but the local aspect would have me coming back.

This isnt bad, but not what i expected from a porter. Its very light and has little aroma. Some roasted flavors to it, but surprisingly light on the palate.
