Community Dark First and foremost, Community Dark is English-style Mild Ale. We’ve dubbed it “Imperial Mild” because it’s a shade stronger than classic Mild. Light (bodied) but dark (colored), Community Dark is the ideal session ale and the best place to begin overcoming one’s irrational fear of the dark. English malts; lightly hopped with East Kent Goldings; London yeast. OG 1050 …

Malty aroma with a little bit of cocoa. Malt forward flavor. Medium body. Not too complex but a decent beer.

Another long time want. Nailed it. Pours a dark, dark brown to black with a voluminous huge froth of mocha head that settles to leave a wall of tight lacing. Nose involves toasted malt, woody hops, and some light roasted coffee. Lightly sweet, somewhat bitter. Light, airy body, creamy texture, soft carb, with a toasty toward dry finish. Another damn near perfect session brew that I wish was on draft in the north part of the state on occasion. Thanks Broad Ripple for having this as a guest tap.

Not one of the better NABC beers. No aroma and tastes a little flat. Still drinkable at the flea.

5 oz sample draft at the New Albanian Pizzeria and Public House in New Albany, Indiana. The pour is a darker copper golden with a smallish off white head. The aroma is roast, nuttiness, grass and a bit pine. Nice soft, full, natural nose. The taste has all of the elements of the nose balanced and integrated nicely together. Lightly sweet, nutty, grassy pine, and soft roast to the finish. Fresh, a bunch of character for a mild. The palate has great body, light, easy drinking. Fresh, clean and really tasty. Great mild - highlight of the night.

Draft to taster. Looks good for the style; a fairly transparent deep copper withlight beige lacing. Smells solid; biscuit and caramel malt. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. A good example of the style, and a nice low-abv beer.

Draft. Deep brown/cola body. Fizzy off-white head. Light aroma of roast and toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. A light lager with some roasted malt notes. If you dig deep enough, you can get a little nutty flavor and some caramel, but not much else.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, chocolate malt, and roasted malt. Flavor is very roasted and hearty upfront with charred notes and rich roasted malt. Light chocolate notes. Excellent mild with a great flavor profile. 7/4/7/4/15 (3.8/5)

On tap at the brewpub on Plaza Drive. Pours a deep brown body with a thin, creamy, tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is slighty nutty and grainy sweet with a light cocoa, roast, grass, and a good amount of dark fruits. Flavor is similar. Cocoa, grainy pale malts with a bit of a caramel sweetness, a light roast, some grass, and some dark fruits. Finishes with a nice cocoa sweetness and pretty dry from a medium-light, grassy and roasty bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a light-medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a tasty mild ale with some nice cocoas, dark fruits, grainy caramels, grass, and roast. A higher ABV% than most milds, but still pretty well done.
