It started out as a Belgo-American menage a trois, but then the brewers arrived and transformed the trans-oceanic affair into a beery lover pentangle. The collaborative minds at Louisville Beer Store, De Struise Brouwers and New Albanian Brewing Company offer this, a willfully disobedient Blonde India Pale Ale with a hop on her shoulder. Has some banana/clove scents, wheat, and some fruit notes. Taste is some wheat and citrus fruit up front, light bitterness to finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear medium amber with a long-lasting off-white head and solid streaks of lace. Good-looking brew. Nice caramel malt going in, cut by mild hop bittering through the palate, finsih has both sides strolling hand in hand. Doesn’t seem strong enough for an IPA, but otherwise, very tasty and worth searching out. Recommended.

Beer pours like apple juice with a minimal cream head. Aroma is apple pie; spiced apples and cinnamon. Taste is tart, green apples and pears with a decent spicy backbone of cinnamon, coriander and nutmeg. Hops are always lurking in the background. Love to buy local in Indiana and this is a decent try. Go fort it if its available.

On cask at GTMW - Pours amber with a thin white head. Nose is lightly spiced, with gentle citrus and a clean bready malt base. Taste is clean and light bread, light sweetness, rye spice, and an herbal finish. Real smooth, with gentle carbonation.

tap at Brewhaven festival - Pours clear gold with a grainy, bready aroma that has a hint of citrus. It’s medium bodied and moderately bitter with some spicy Belgian yeast presence. Good, but with the help of De Struise I expected more.

A collaboration between two great brewers (New Albanian and Struise)? Priced at a relatively affordable $7.99? This one was a no brainer. While it remains fresh this is one of the best beers in the Midwest. If you happen to be at this year’s Great Taste of the Midwest be sure to get some on draft along with the rest of their offerings.

Aroma / Appearance - The rosy bronze body had a warm glow. The head fades quickly into almost nothing. Lively clear legs don’t take much encouragement to join the base. Candy sugar, orange peels, and sweet hops remind me of blending an elephant ear into liquid form. Toss in a generous handful of powdered sugar and you have a Belgian inspired session beer.

Flavor / Palate - The mouthfeel is rich and filling for the style. Orange glaze, cotton candy, and yeasty sourdough tickle the palate. The finish hangs in the back of the throat although it lacks the intensity of a huge aggressive beer. The experience reminds me of an abbey ale merged with an East Coast IPA.

Tap at Brewhaven. Musty malt, and fruity piney hops aroma. Golden with a moderate white head. Yeasty malt, orange pine hops, and light black pepper flavor. Medium creamy body.

Bottle thanks to secret santa! Pour has a dark golden color and a thin covering of white head. Aroma has yeast, resins, some pine, mellow malt, and some herbs. Mouth feel is medium and the carbonation average. Flavor has lots of malt and yeast, light peppery spice, resins, lemon grass, and pines. Interesting mixture of flavors and way off the beaten path.
