COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Excessive hopping rendered moot a modest plan to brew a seasonal winter warmer, and since the original batch was brewed on Election Day, 2002, Elector continued to make democracy pointless and redefine the Imperial Red category.

English & American malts; Cascade & Galena hops; London yeast. Dry-hopped. O.G. 1072

Growler. Smells hoppy but has strong Belgian influences. A bit dry. Citrus notes noticeable with the sweetness. A bit different from what I’m used to, but not bad.

Bomber: Murky wood brown, with a thin tan cap. Scent is caramel, spice, boozy. Malty caramel, resin-type bitter flavour.... Rather high alcohol presence for just 7.5%. Not exactly a smooth one.

Defnitely a full-on red ale. Big malt notes combine with an interesting hop bill that isn’t too harsh.

Aroma is caramel/bready malts and some sweetness. The flavor is piney/citrus hops, malts, some funk and a long and very bitter finish.

Draft to taster. Looks decent; a transparent copperish brown with off-white lacing. Smells good; a nice balance of hops and malt. Tastes solid; like it smells with a bitter hop profile. Average on the palate. Good beer.

Bomber pours a clear mahogony color with a fair and lasting khaki head full of tiny bubbles. Smells of floral hops and caramel. Aroma is pretty much the same. Taste is on the sweet side with only a slighlly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is between creamy and sticky. This is a good red ale but not as outrageous as several others I’ve tried

Not a bad red ale or a bad IPA, but not the best combination of both. I expected a bit more of a hop assault. The pine and resin finish of the hops was downplayed, a bit too much in my opinion, by the malty red character of this beer. Still, not bad.

This pours a darker gold and cloudy with a HUGE head. Nice floral aroma and a sweet, almost citrusy taste.

Draft. Clear amber pour with a thin off white top. Scent is caramel and hops. Taste is citrus and bread.

Pours a copper-orange-red with a thinner khaki head that clings a bit. Well stirred or poured aggressively, it produces about a couple fingers or so of soft, tight bubbles. Leaves a solid wall of lace after a while: nice! Nose is fragrant floral and refreshing: somewhat herbal, slight resin, with a slight hint of perfume. Taste is fairly sweet and pretty bitter. Palate is lighter, softer carbonation, somewhat grainy, and tea-like bitterness on the end. Style lines are certainly blurred: part IPA, part amber, part Irish red. It’s a pretty easy drinker and well enough balanced. Good stuff.
