3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at STL Microfest 2012 - Pours golden / bronze with a clear off-white head. The aroma has a ton of oak, mild caramel, toasted malt, mild hops - low hops for an IIPA. Medium / full body with semi-soft carbonation. The flavor starts sweet and has lots of oak, alcohol and what was on the aroma. The finish is quite warm. Okay, but I prefer the non-oaked version.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft sample at Microfest 2012. Pours a cloudy amber color with a fairly large eggshell white head. Very oaky all the way through, with vanilla, floral and citrusy hops, and resin. Bitter on the palate. Medium-bodied, with an oaky, bitter mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Good oaked DIPA, and the oak really takes over.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On guest tap at DLD ’12. Pours a lightly hazed, orange, dull gold colored body with a finger-width, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is pretty sweet caramels with lots of orange hops. A nice oak comes out more as this warms. Some touches of vanilla and a light breadiness to the malts with some tangerine and grapefruit pines as well. Flavor is very oaky up front with lots of caramel and piney oranges, grapefruits, and tangerines. An increased vanilla in the middle with a few florals and a light bread before this finishes very woody and pretty dry with a firm bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-full body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, I wasn’t the biggest fan of their Hoptimus and I usually don’t like oak aged IPA’s/DIPA’s, but I thought this was pretty good. Lots of oak with a light vanilla, but a nice caramel sweetness and plenty of citrus pines to balance. Nice beer.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The aroma is reminiscent of Hoptimus, but with dialed back hops and an undeniable oak presence. The appearance is gold with a sticky white head. Flavor is much like the aroma, but with a hint of vanilla. Palate is bubbly. A nice take on Hoptimus.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft sample at IBGWF 12. Poured hazy copper with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate floral, sour citrus and wood aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bitter flavor with a medium to heavy bitter woody finish of moderate to long duration. I would recommend this to a freind.
