Strykzone (863), Wood River, Illinois, USA Apr 15, 2008 Dark brown with only a few large bubbles. Dark fruit aroma. Sour mash flavor with some whiskey, barley, and acid. Very thin feel. Far too sour for me.
cdeaton (66), Madison, Indiana, USA May 29, 2008 Most unique beer I’ve had. Quite sour, though I was told once upon a time a better batch was brewed when the barrel endured a brutal 110 degree day. Dark brown and transparent. Notes of blueberries, raspberries, blackberries. As most would say, odd. Quite odd. But worth the effort. Extra points for style. vyvvy (1582), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Apr 18, 2008 On thinking back on this my number may be elevated a bit for the uniqueness ~ so it goes, I’ll stick with my original numbers. Sampled at Schlafly Repeal Fest ’08. Pours dark brown with a minimal sized head. The aroma has sourness (sour mash, not like a Flemish sour) and dark malt. Medium / thin body with light but biting carbonation. The taste is much like the aroma and is lightly sweet. Okay, but I wouldn’t want too much. sneagrams3 (1324), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Apr 14, 2008 Tasted 4/12/08. Schlafly’s Repeal of Prohibition festival. Dark brown hue. Burnt and bitter palate. Acidic. Sour and tart. Sticky and fudgy. Hoppy and caramel. Tart raspberries. Interesting, but odd. drfabulous (623), Columbia, Missouri, USA Apr 13, 2008 Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition, on tap. Couldn’t put my finger on this one. The sour mash left a tiny sour taste, but overall the style got lost for me. Like a pepsi as well. Not my favorite.
