JoeM500 (1877), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Oct 10, 2003 Overly sweet. I couldn't handle the molasses-like sweetness as soon as it hits the lips. Alcohol was up front as well. Needs re-working, or maybe just an off keg? Burning sugar water. flemdawg (484), Naples, Florida, USA Oct 4, 2003 BIG Oktoberfest: Dark red/brown color, almost no head. Sweet is the best way for me to describe this one. Almost too sweet at first, but after mulling over it a while, it grew on me. Finished with a strong alcohol kick, just to let you know it could mess you up if no care was taken. cb (810), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA Aug 20, 2003 Incredibly malty with almost no carbonation. Dark plum color. Flavors of brown sugar, prune and almost burnt apples. Somewhat champagny, sticky palate. Would be extremely sweet, almost to the point of cloying for those unfamiliar with quadrupels. I had to have it twice to truly appreciate it. Lovely. BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 17, 2003 At Indiana BG Fest: Brown/copper hue with some lacing, good head for a strong ale. Aroma is fruity, malty, barnyard, pine and bubblegum tones. Twangy fruit topped by a sweet caramel taste. Hint of pine undertone. Alcoholic feel and finish. Medium-bodied with a chewy and warming mouthfeel. Not overly sweet, good balance, very quaffable. Nice surprise. smoosh (523), New Albany, Indiana, USA Jun 28, 2003 Draft Only: aroma is very sweet. Beautifully clear copper in color with a thick head of tiny bubbles. It is quite sweet, so I couldn't have very many of these - especially at the well hidden 10%, but makes an excellent finishing beer.
