Draft sample at Bank Street on 08/21/09. Poured hazy amber color with an average creamy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate sweet grainy and cough drop aroma. Light to medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Light to medium sweet flavor with a light to medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Worth having once.

Draft: Slightly cloudy gold with a small, off-white head. Fruit, yeasty aroma. Light flavours...peach, yeast. Slightly herbal bitter finish. I could happily drink a few of these.

Nonic pint draft at the New Albanian Pizzeria and Public House in New Albany, Indiana. The pour is clear darker golden with a smallish light tan head. The aroma is herbal floral yeast along with a base of cracker malt. The taste is an interesting mix of the herbal floral elements and the Belgian yeast - very much in the mode of the Belgian Single. The palate is light bodied, soft carbonation and yeast finish. Got a bit thin as the beer warmed. Nice.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange with a thick white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, melon rind. Flavor of toasted malt, light fruits, melon rind, clove and peppery spices with toasted malt in the finish. Simple but very drinkable and enjoyable. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

On tap at brewpub
Hitting up Sportsline Pizza for lunch I started with a pour of this fine session beer. A few of these would pass the afternoon nicely. You could even alternate in a few of the other lighter styles available that day. Personally I think more brewpubs and breweries should try their hand at this style of lighter fare.

Aroma / Appearance - Lazy and hazy the orange body was mellow and light. Sweet with a combination of orange and melons it had only a faint alcoholic tang.

Flavor / Palate - Fluid and satisfying, the mouthfeel was a bit like orange creamsicle. There was some hoppiness in the finish but not enough to stick to the throat for more than a second. A good interpretation of the Belgian abbey style I think this is a positive market for brewpubs to experiment in.
