my favorite beer of 2006 fantastic, i wish all stouts could be this good huge roasted chocolate aromas bouncing around with cherries and vanilla it poured a thick rich velvety black with just a small amount of creamy brown head the flavors are rich and decadent with chocolate, caramel, and roasted malt dominating the palate it is sweet, but not overpowering at all and the alcohol is hardly noticeable this is a beer that you can drink all night, but you really shouldn’t

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2007 Draft at Keg Liquors Fest of Ale... Pours a dark black with a faint brown head. The aroma has a light hint of cherries, with a touch of coffee from the malts. This beer clings to and stains the glass it is so dark (also your shirt if you get a bit sloppy!) The taste is an excellent malty stout, with a nice bitterness from the cherries that give it a nice finishing touch. Excellent!

Draft, 2006 GTM. Bourbon barrel aroma. Dark, completely opaque brown. No head, no lace. Very nice beer, though it smells like your average barrel aged brew. A very nice, enjoyable brew. Had towards the end of the Great Taste, and one that made me glad I stopped at the NA booth.

Beer #20 at GTMW ’09. Great stout look in the glass, big brown head over a black body. Smell has hint of gunpowder from toy cap pistols, but also a sweet beer smell. Cherries are very much there in the taste, but still kind of light and likeable. Stout has none of the flaws of the style: no astringency or burnt grain taste, no coffee. Just a straightforward stout base. Goes down very nicely. A great aperitif beer.

this beer is a gift from the new albanians. a rich cherry imperial stout that was satisfying on every level. the pour was dark black with a thick ruby head. aroma of roasted coffee and chcoclate. taste was smoky, rich and smooth with a subtle bite of tartness at the end. this is the best nabc i’ve ever had, wish they bottled it! on tap at rich o’s, gravityhead ’07.

Bottle. Dark cherry and molasses malt aroma. Oil black color with small head. Slightly sweet chocolate toffee malt flavor. Mild bitter finish. Different for an Imperial Stout - subdued and smooth.

On tap at the 2007 GTMW: Pours a rich opaque black with a dense brown head with wispy-lacing. Semi-tart and sweet dark chocolate cherry aroma has some earthy caramel notes. Body starts fairly full with some fresh assertive hoppy bitterness and tart light cherry fruitiness toward a roasty, bittersweet lingering warming finish. Nicely balanced and enjoyable.

multiple samples from the st louis microfest. pours oily black with a brown tinge along the edge of the glass. very small tan head would appear with minor agitation. aroma of dark chocolate, dark, lightly alcohol soaked cherries, light roast, anise and oak barrel. A very nice aroma to say the least (i was huffing this one for at least 10 minutes with every sample). flavors of dark chocolate, roast, with a very slight hint of cherries. body is lush, lightly sweet with mild carbonation. nice coating on the mouth with absolutely no alcohol anywhere. nice compexity with alot to offer. This almost became a session beer for vyvvy at the microfest due to the ease of drinking for this stout. This was the best beer at the event for shure! Nice work New Albanian!

Jet black with a smallish dark brown head. Whiskey dominates the aroma. Flavor is roasted coffee, whiskey, roasted malt, dark fruit. Delicious! It looks GREAT and tastes almost as good.

Sampled at St. Louis Microfest - this was probably my favorite beer at the microfest. Many samples were had - I wish this brewery was closer so I could sample it more often. Poured black with a dark brown head. Aroma had lots of tart cherry and deep roasted malt. The tast was also roasted malt, but there was a lot of creaminess to it. Very full bodied beer with medium carbonation. Fninsh was nice with piney hops and roasted malt. There was some cherry on the taste, but it was more subdued than the aroma suggested it would be. Light amounts of dried dark cherries where in there. Very nice beer worth trying.
