Alpine might be small, but their brewing chops are mighty. We teamed up to create this triple dry-hopped imperial IPA bursting with Columbus, Amarillo, Centennial and Simcoe hops. Consider yourself a hero for getting an Alpine beer outside of San Diego.

Tap. Pours hazy golden amber with a large off-white creamy head that dissipates slowly with good lacing. Aroma is strong grapefruit, pine resin. Flavor is grapefruit, spruce and pine, mild caramel malt, some undefined spice and herb flavors. Medium bitter finish. Rich and full bodied. Very good beer.

Bomber poured a clear tarnished gold with a lasting off white head. Aromas of biscuit, earthiness, pine, orange zest, grapefruit zest and light skunk bud. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, grapefruit, orange zest, pine, earthiness and light skunk bud with a smooth dry bitter lingering pine finish.

The beer pours a golden-amber color with a white head. The aroma is full of big time hops. I get some pine and resin, as well as a good deal of grapefruit and some papaya. The flavor is very similar. There is a lot of resinous grapefruit notes, as well as some biscuit malt. The bitterness is fairly high and there is a ton of hop flavor, including some nice pine notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A great IPA that definitely shows a bit of the Alpine influence.

Bottle. Clear orange pour, a little soapy head and a great fresh, vibrant orange hops aroma. Mouthfeel starts out creamy/malty, then nice piney, prickly hops, some grapefruit and a little dry on the finish. Definitely worth picking this one up.

Clear orange-amber body. Moderate sized white head and soapy lacing. Nose is full of resinous hops complemented by pine, grapefruit and mango. Flavor is a bit different as resin and light caramel malts take center stage. Surprisingly malty compared to Alpine’s other IPA offerings. Medium bodied, assertive carbonation, fairly aggressive hop bitterness from start to finish.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2012 Pint on tap at Elizabeth Station, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is super pungent, with floral hops, hemp, orange rinds and resinous hops - barely enough caramel malt to back. Flavour is insanely intense, with relentless hoppiness, loads of floral notes and truckloads of hempy / pot-like hops reveal themselves as you get into this; secondary notes of citrus peel / citrus rind; and barely enough malt to hold this together without diminishing the hop presence. Very intense and delicious, though almost *too* over the top!

Pours golden with a two finger head. The nose is pine, tropical fruit and resin. The taste is the same with the addition of band-aid. A little unbalanced as the alcohol really comes through.

22oz. Bomber. Pours a pale gold color with a nice lacing head of foam. Big hoppy nose reminiscent of other Alpine beers. Bright mandarin orange, grapefruit and pine notes dominant the aroma which is arguably the most outstanding quality of the beer. Flavor is hop centric, but not overly bitter and balanced by more sweetness than is typical for Alpine’s IPAs. Maybe this is the New Belgium component of the collaboration. Lots of pine and tropical fruit flavors with a little bitter bite on the back end. Oily and slightly sticky on the palate with a decent amount of carbonation. I think this beer would have been a little better if they could have kept the ABV in the 7-8% range since there is a boozy component to the back end flavor. Overall a really enjoyable IPA for the hop heads out there.
