We’re about to light up Florida with this Cigar City collaborative brew. Our Belgian yeast tangos with Anaheim and Marash peppers along with loads of citrusy hops to create an ale full of spice. Aged on Spanish cedar to salute our mutual love for wood!

Pour is hazed golden amber with lots of white head. Nose has a bit of stale grain, some sweet candied sugar, lemon, passion fruit, and a hint of peppery spice. Taste is pretty much the same, a bit sweet of candied sugar, some fruitiness and a hint more peppery spice. Medium body, a touch syrupy and heavy in back, moderate carbonation.

650ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a finger of white head that leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is citrus with hints of caramel and chilies. Taste is a light citrus hop bitterness with a caramel malty sweetness with a slight warming from the chilies finishing with the cedar. Light to medium bodied with mild carbonation. Not quite what I expected from 2 highly reputable breweries. I was expecting much more than I received and was left disappointed.

Draught at Fate. Hazy amber color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, caramel, berries, mango, resin and pine. Bitter finish with citrus, mango, berries and resin. Very nice brew.

Bottle from Fresh Thyme, a new organic grocery down the street. Pours a hazy amber/orange with a sizeable off-white head that displays good retention. Subtle aroma of lemon and spice. Flavors of floral, piney hops, subtle citrus, boozy afterbite. Subtle yeast in the finish. Medium/full carbonation and medium/full body. Honestly, I expected more flavor-wise from this effort. At least some pepper influence. Cigar City is awesome, New Belgium is not, so the answer may lie there. Still a decent drink, though.

6/27/2014: The New Belgium/Cigar City Lips of Faith Ale brewed wit Anaheim & Marash Chilies was fairly disappointing for me since barely any chili flavor or heat were distinguishable. The beer itself was good and drank a lot like a nice Belgian Trippel with a good balance between the sweetness and alcohol, but where were the peppers?! I only noticed a very slight earthy tingle in the back of the throat at the finish after about getting half way through the beer. That’s it. No heat at all; had I not known that there was supposed to be peppers in this beer, it would not be possible to find that characteristic. Maybe the peppers are more pronounced in the bottled version, but the tap version was a let down on peppers. Without the peppers, this is nothing more than a well-crafted Trippel. Snifter (draught) at The Brass Tap in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't anything so obvious as a smokey ale from the Cigar City collab. Light citrus smoke on the nose and hazy gold with a light, dense head, on the pour it washes over the palate with smooth effervescence and lightly smoky citrus. This brew builds it's strength mad the peppers come alive in a very natural, clean and quite spicy way. Could have benefitted from some more aromatics, but what the brew lacks in introduction to the palate it makes up in transition from it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Shocking a good chills beer. Beautiful tan brown pour with a tall well laced small bubbled off white head. Great sweet overtones with undertones of sweet anahiem chills. Love the light heat in the throat and the sweet flavor of the pepper. A great example of chills beer done right. Restraint where needed and flavor heavy.

Dark golden pour. Aroma of Belgian yeast, citrus, pepper and honey. Taste is nice mix of the peppers, citrus, and sweet grain. Heat from peppers comes it at end and is a pleasant finish. Medium mouthfeel with fairly low carbonation. Enjoyed this collab.

Pours a really nice orange, nice head, and the chilies aren’t overpowering giving it a very nice finish to the palate. Wish I would of got more on my trip to Florida.

A found this to be a pleasant ale. Pours a nice orange color with nice head retention. Aromas of sweet grain, honey, vanilla. Flavors are big and malty with oaky notes and a nice warmth as the peppers kick in at the end.
