2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Golden color, just hazy, with small compact head. Mild aroma, dusty malts, lightly fruity (6.5). It has some light caramel flavor, very light residual sweetness, not really a spicy kick, while the chilies provide a rather unpleasant vegetable, soil touch (5.5); medium-to-strong bitterness, with a light unpleasant vegetable bitterness.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Golden-amber, frothy head. Aroma has some light pale malts, and a slightly fresh character of chile. The taste is a bit old/vegetal, with a lot of doughy malts and the faintest bit of chile.

Draft, Snallygaster. Aroma is medium sweet, kiwi, grapefruit/orange, some wood, bread. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, cedar, some grapefruit rind. Medium body, some resin, light acidity. Tasty beer, but didn’t really pick up on the chilies.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours orange gold with a creamy white head. Aroma suggests El Pollo Loco chicken! Med body. Flavor is citrus and mild chili with a little malt. Not kidding about El Pollo Loco. Their flame grilled chicken gets a nice crust. This is the weirdest experience. But it’s a good one. Ale is finishing sort of astringently woody/citrusy with a touch of chili - heading for the dry side.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured clear orange copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate earthy yeast and cedar wood aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate spice bittersweet flavor with a medium spice bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This beer met my expectations.
