Nose is a bit roasty, hint of coffee, light. Taste is light and roasty - bit of light coffee, bit of acidity, some nice smooth cocoa notes, very lightly sweet, nutty. Mouthfeel is light and moderately carbonated. Really drinkable - fantastic session beer for any season. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA

The aroma and flavor are full of sweet malts and smokey, nutty flavors. daknole (2882), Plantation, Florida, USA

Flavor reminds me of a very good porter. Nutty, roasty, chocolate. Very well done. I am glad I got to try this. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 23, 2008 Quite possibly the most opaque black pour ever. Pitch black. Completely non reflective. It eats the light. Tiny off-white head. Nice aroma of malt with a hint of smokey sweetness and chocolate. Flavor is rich: dark and malty sweetness. Very nice. CheersMate1 (785), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2008 This brewer has a new label. A glass on a lonely table. Nice nutty malt taste. I must say that this focuses on the nut taste. The sweet flavor is hidden in the malt taste, but the smokey/nutty flavor is really good. This is a really sweet beer. I have been reading other ratings, and have seen "alcoholic" and "acrid" and I must say, "What are these folks talking about?" The beer is nice and nutty and sweet. It is not the best beer, but pretty good. The palate could use some upgrading. bleeng (594), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a nice fluffy light brown head. Nose is very aromatic with sweetness, malts, and spices. Taste is a bit chewy, with lingering sweetness, nice chocolate undertones, and a bit of burnt malts. A bit thin mouth that disappoints. Alcohol is evident for such a low ABV beers. Does not leave much on the palate at the end. Overall a decent beer but for $8 a sixer not sure if I would buy an entire sixer again. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2008 Bottle from Timmy300. Pours a dark brown/black. Nose is spice, a bit of roast and a little tart. head is thin and dissipates. Overall, has a lively mouth feel and a refreshing lager finish with a touch of acidity and crispness. Some more of the spiciness comes through as well. Finishes reasonable long. Nice enough. stankenk (130), Maplewood, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 18, 2008 Pours very dark brown with a tan head. The nose of dark chocolate and coffee. Comes across the palate much of the same. A medium body that is smooth and creamy. A good beer with a porter tone.
