Feb 18, 2008 This one poured with a long lasting tan plillowiy head, where the liquid had a dark ruby color. The aroma was of slight licorice and chocolate. The taste blended the two with a slight coffee and caramel taste in the middle and a clean finish at the end. This was well made.

Feb 15, 2008 Nutty malty nose. Dark brown, almost looks like a porter. Rich malt, nutty raisin sweetness. Full body. Interesting beer...worth trying

Feb 12, 2008 Bottle, BB 1/25/08. Poured clear, medium garnety-brown with a creamy cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasted nutty notes and dry semi-sweet chocolate backed by a dusty kolsch-type yeast.. pleasant. The flavor began with tart, darker-fruit inspired notes on the tip of the tongue.. semi-sweet, lightly-toasted caramel and chocolate across the middle.. a little tartness returns on the finish. Crisp and clean on the palate, leaving dried cocoa on the refreshing finish.. this was a very well put-together beer.

Feb 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep black color with brown head. Low retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel chews, toasted granola, plums and mild cherry. The taste isn’t as intense as the aroma. Notes of red fruit, bitter chocolate and raisins. The body seems a bit low as if this beer was watered down.

Appearance - redish brown, clear, with a minimal head
Flavor - light sweetness, medium bitterness, medium sourness
Palete - medium body with a hin feel, and average carbonation, with a slight bitter ending.

Feb 5, 2008 Decent all around dark ale, however, I have had a few bad bottles both on the west coast and mid-west. Flavor can be a bit to over powering for seafood or other mild foods...and at other times the flavor is weak.

Feb 3, 2008 12 oz bottle thanks to lb4lb. Pours a deep dark brown with a large slightly off whte head, sort of reminded me off an oreo considering how dark the body was compared to the whiteness of the head. Initial aroma if slightly musty but as the beer warms notes chocolate, some sort of atificial sweetner, slight coffee and dirt. Medium bodied with lively carbonation that is highly quaffable. Flavor really suprised me compared to the aroma with nice chocolate notes, vanilla that leaves a very nice roastiness on the back of my tongue. I went black but now I have to go back because I can’t get this beer around me.
