Commercial Description:
We like to think we beat winter at its own game with 2°Below Winter Ale- a bright, warming blast of Sterling and Liberty hops along with tawny-roasted malts. By pushing our 2°Below into a final, nearly freezing state, its ample structure develops a brilliant clarity. Dry-hopping during fermentation creates a rosy, floral nose with a hint of pepper spice and subtle, estery undertones. Weighing in at 6.6% alcohol by volume with 30 IBU's, 2°Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow. We hope it helps take your winter from bearable to downright delightful.

Pretty good stuff. Golden in color with a thin eggshell head. I picked this up at the store because I had never had it and the old lady opened it and started drinking it from the bottle. I appreciate her willingness to try new things, but keep me in the loop here. I like a higher abv beer from New Belgium. I like how the sips seemed to alternate from a hearty maltiness to a crisp, sweet hop flavor. Kinda thin on the tongue. I agree with many of the raters that this is an awkward take on the style, but I liked it for what it was.

Bottle courtesy of Kevin. Pours a clear copper-orange with an average size somewhat-lasting fluffy off-white head. Aroma of lightly toasted caramel malt, light herbal hops, spices and something else I have a hard time placing, it’s a biscuity something, best I can do. Flavour of toasted caramel malt, fruit, spices and a light bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good, I couldn’t really figure out what style it was trying to be but either way, I liked it.

Hazy amber with cream color one inch head. Lots of lacing. Big floral and earthy aroma. Taste is rich hops and plenty of sweet roasted malts. Hop flavors are very nice in this brew. The 6.6% abv is not obvious. Easy drinker and quite pleasant beer.

I love this hoppy winter belgian style ale. The palate is hoppy, warm with an alcohol kick and a little malty. The warm afterglow is the center piece. Great for drinking in front of the fireplace, in the rockingchair.

This is a refreshing change of pace for most winter brews out there. The Malt flavor is awesome, it’s clean but has plenty of flavor. Good balance of toastiness and sweetness. Just enough hops for me, perhaps a little low for the style, but I think that’s what the beer is going for.
