Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2° Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill – a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800’s. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2° Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

Pours a darker clear golden color with white head. Citrus, floral and biscuit notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes clean. Very nicely done.

A delicious beer that is very crisp and refreshing. Nice flavor on the initial sip, but no weird aftertaste that lingers on the tounge.

Pours a pretty gold with a medium sized white head that quickly dissipates. Nose is of hops. Fairly creamy on the palate, the taste is hop forward with a malt backbone. Slightly bitter on the finish. Hopheads will like this one. Pairs well with chicken off the grill.

Some time back we had a number of visitors staying with us. For fun, they took turns going out and picking up varieties of beer. I kept notes about what we thought about each, but can not find them anywhere. I did find a bag of empties from that time period, so thought I would at least record those w/o commet and ratings from memory. This is one of those. (When I do find the notes it will be interesting to see how close I came)

Appearence - Pours to a nice rocky head light amber color. Aroma - Strong spruce that covers any malt aromas. Flavor - Piney very dry and bitter the hops override any malt flavor. Mouth feel - astringent. Overall - It’s has to strong of a piney hop profile for my tastes. Not very drinkable.

pours a golden to amber color with a nice fluffy head. the aroma is caramel, flowers, citrus, and like fresh east kent hops. The flavor is floral up front followed by caramel, and a slight bitter finish. I dont get any of the spicyness or pepper. Overall this is refreshing.

Interesting aroma. Could tell it was brewed with a good bit of hops but stronger sweet malt flavor. Hard to place what beer style this is. Had on Superbowl night from variety pack

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Light copper with a tad of head. The nose is hoppy, but subtle, cannot put my finger on it. The hops are pretty potent with a hint of toffee. Finishes fairly quickly. Beats the hell out of Coors Light. Kinda nondescript, nor awful. This could become the "Honda Accord" of decent beers.

Rated on 11-27-2009 (Bottle marked Best Before 26 Mar 10) This bottled beer forms a small white head, transparent gold body, slowing rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The Aroma is caramel malt, floral hops and some pepper. The Taste is bitter, caramel malt, floral hops, and a hint of pepper. The Palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is not overly bitter or hoppy tasting. It just had no WOW presence to it that left me wanting to seek this beer out again.
