COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2° Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill – a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800’s. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2° Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

Old rating. Red brown color. Big sweet and spice, malt, citrus bite, new Belgium yeasty taste. Okay winter beer.

12oz purchased at Whole Foods for about $1.40... enjoyed from my FW tulip. Listening to John Kelley High Desert Soundsystem. CRYSTAL clear orange lite amber.... very nice color... decent head but goes away quickly. Very distinctive nose, I swear I could pick it out of a lineup. Toasted grains are all over the place ... still hops are there, but are definitely not of the American varieties... noble hops all the way here ... they just don’t work well together. Flavor is aromatic and toasted malt (Victory??) ... clean very vibrant noble hop balance. The malt flavor is like chewing on a small teaspoon of brewers biscuit malt... the hops really muddy it up. Edit: The taste is also very earthy, like a cigar humidor, sorta reminds me of a fresh hop brew... I just can’t put my finger/palate on it. Wow.... this is a back and forth review... I have, would and will buy this beer again here and there just because it is soooo freaking different ... and damnit, I want to figure it out.

Certain brewers have a signature taste, don't know what it is, but u can always tell u are drinking one of theirs and New Belgium is one of those. This beer frankly is not an ESB as advertised IMHO. Don't know what it is honestly but it is a good tasting easy drinking ale, a variation of fat tire in my opinion and that is not a bad thing but definitely not an ESB. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. Gold pour with white head. Minimal aroma. Taste is dry, bitter hops. Pine and citrus. Kinda plain and boring. Not bad but could be better. OK

Bottle - fair size foamy head, clear light copper color, pretty well balanced with mildly sweet biscuity malt and earthy hops, good overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pretty good beer. Ive never had a White IPA before this and it’s pretty much what I expected, smooth, tasty and easy to drink. I really enjoy the after taste, kind of citrus/pine/cream flavor.

Nice easy drinking malty and caramely beer with some herbal and citrus hop character.
