COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2° Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill – a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800’s. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2° Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

Aroma headed up with piney hops, some banana and apple fruitiness, honey and buttterscotch malts. Slighty minty, peppermint. Toasted malts up front (similar to fat tire) in the flavor. Piney hops with spice backing (cinnamin, black pepper, mint). Finish is sweet and substantial. Palate has a buttery texture. Some dryness that mellows in finish.

Certain brewers have a signature taste, don't know what it is, but u can always tell u are drinking one of theirs and New Belgium is one of those. This beer frankly is not an ESB as advertised IMHO. Don't know what it is honestly but it is a good tasting easy drinking ale, a variation of fat tire in my opinion and that is not a bad thing but definitely not an ESB. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. Gold pour with white head. Minimal aroma. Taste is dry, bitter hops. Pine and citrus. Kinda plain and boring. Not bad but could be better. OK

Bottle - fair size foamy head, clear light copper color, pretty well balanced with mildly sweet biscuity malt and earthy hops, good overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pretty good beer. Ive never had a White IPA before this and it’s pretty much what I expected, smooth, tasty and easy to drink. I really enjoy the after taste, kind of citrus/pine/cream flavor.

Nice easy drinking malty and caramely beer with some herbal and citrus hop character.

Bottle. Pours clear copper with a medium sized white head. The aroma has toasted malt, happy floral notes. The taste has a light bitterness, a sweet malty finish. Odd. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From the bottle the aroma is a little hops, taste is sweet of the very front but the overall flavor is similar to an amber ale, finish is wheat and roasted finish

Backlog. From bottle in 2007. Aroma of flowery hops, with aromatic hops, caramel malts and some fruit and herbs retronasal. Flavor is light caramel malts, but hardly sweet. Medium bodied. Moderate bitter finish.
