SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Apr 9, 2008 Pours a deep brown with a smal, but long lasting tan head. Great fruity caramel and spice aroma. Flavor has some great maltiness and fruit, with a slightly bitter hop finish. A great brew from New Belgium. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA Apr 7, 2008 Thanks to my brother-in-law for getting this in KS. Nice brown pour with a finger thick head. Multiple flavors of light fruits and some spice aroma on the nose. The taste is similar with banana and spice coming through as well as a bit of maltiness. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Apr 6, 2008 Deep brown with flashes of red and a small head. Aromas of spicy fruits, bananas and yeast come through pretty strong. Soft malty base with a sugary sweetness and a complex fruit flavor. Quick, clean, roasted finish leaves a good taste behind. Seems to be slightly thin and more fizzy than usual for a dubbel, otherwise really good patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Apr 4, 2008 tap at the brewery - Pours amber with an average head. It has a mild malt aroma with plenty of yeast. The malt flavor has mild caramel along with light hops and some yeastiness. I got a hint of spice as well. Lively on the palate and medium bodied, this dubbel is mild for the style and easy drinking. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Mar 29, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Lightly hazed auburn brown pour, glowing orange around the edge. Basic banana, chocolate, clove and hazelnut aroma; clean and precise. Flavor of honey, hazelnut, maple, overripe banana, and clove; pear skins with some dryness in the midpalate. Pretty sugary altogether; not too deep, but not too dull. Grainy, rock candy and grain mouthfeel; drying, acidic fruit finish. An understated, unmemorable example; does nothing too wrong or right. JaffaHawk23 (38), Broomfield(via Iowa City), Colorado, USA Mar 28, 2008 Pours a finger and a half head that has a lacing that sticks nicely. There is no doubt about the banana nose that only starts the complexity in the flavor of this beer. Very nice mouthfeel. Very nice look. Very nice beer. One of new belgiums best. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Mar 27, 2008 Aquired from lb4lb in a trade. Pours a dark clean amber with a small lasting head. Great robust aroma of fermented boozy fruits, spice & candied malts. Flavor is ripened fruits (bananna), spices (peppery), and rich malts. Wow! The aroma is so powerful (in a good way). Quite impressed with this one. Thanks Deniz. VitaminR (422), Colorado, USA Mar 21, 2008 Fruity banana nose with some spice. Deep amber to brownish in color and clear. Rich malt, intense cloves, good understated hops, nicely balanced. Full body, with complementary alcohol and carbonation coming through nicely. Very smooth, excellent finish. One of New Belgium’s best beers.
